Ok, in the dragon king entry, I said that I didn’t liked this guy a lot, as I always thought he was a much less interesting Joker, but since he’s kind of an important part in the original Spider-Girl comics as one of the main villains, I believe it’s time to give him a redesign as well. In my interpretation of the story, he would be like Green Goblin in Spectacular Spider-Man, an unpredictable variant that would be a thorn in the side of both Spider-Girl and her biggest foes, and our heroine will have to deduce his identity in order to defeat him.

Story

Much later in the story, when Mayday has finally captured Darius Silver and the majority of her foes are behind bars, she started to get more confident in her role as Spider-Girl. During this period of her hero career, the school hosted a Christmas prom in the gym, where a giant Christmas themed cake was donated by an anonymous donator. During the party however, the cake exploded in a powerful electric burst and an unsettling masked figure came out of it. People tried to escape, but the door had been wired to an electrical generator. With nowhere to hide in order to change into Spider-Girl, Mayday tried to change under a table, unfortunately her friends found out about her secret identity, as they followed her to her hiding spot. After promising them to explain everything afterwards, she sprung into action against the costumed intruder, who proved to be a surprisingly skilled acrobat, nimble to the point of rotating his limbs to 360 degrees( head included), and even more talkative than her during a battle. As many people know, Spider-Man’s most notorious tactic during combat is to exhaust his opponent by spitting irritating jokes at them, making them lose their temper and their focus, but in Funny Face case, this sort of stuff fall flat, as he would shut up during the entire confrontation. To make matters worse his laughter is rather “contagious”, in fact as long as he genuinely laugh, everyone around him will be forced to laugh. Thanks to her modified mask, Mayday wasn’t effected by this, but this was a minimal advantage on her foe. Funny Face uses a toy hammer that he named “Mr Bunky”( in the canon comic it was a magical staff), which head can be separated showing a sharp blade. His suit can also produce an high amount of electricity that can engulf his whole body or redirected to the joy buzzers on his palms to produce a shock powerful enough to stop a person heart. This last feature in Funny Face’s arsenal was also the reason of his defeat, as Mayday threw water at him while he activated the suit. However the villain was still able to escape but fortunately nobody got hurt. Funny Face will show himself multiple times, proving to be surprisingly resourceful in his many schemes to ruin the life of the New Yorkers.
