I've been losing some interest in doing CG work lately and I wanted to do something to kind of challenge myself.The idea was simple pick several random directories out of my 3D model libraries and use at least one piece from each one to make a final outfit for a character. If I couldn't use a directory, I had to pick anther until I could. (By unusable I mean I can't mix a one piece bathing suit and a tube top for example...) In the end I could model anything I wanted to add to the scene. The challenge is in making all the different outfits work together.
This was a lot harder than I thought it would be! I ended up creating a dynamic skirt to tie together all the elements in the scene above. Regardless, this was fun and I think I will try it again.

Despite of the clothing challenge, what I really like here are the skin shader and the lighting setup.

Wow, very cool! My creativity is a wildfire that I have to pour water on all the time to keep it from burning my brain up. Sounds like you need some stoking. I think you are on your way.
One exercise like what you're doing is this: Make a character. Any kind, especially as far different from comfort as you can get, and do a scene for them to be in.
That's how I came up with Toxic and her whole universe! When your muse is in the groove, you will know it! It's an exercise to get you in sync with your muse.
Once you're in sync, the images flow like a dam bursting.
