“Oh gods up above...I never expected to see this day happening, heck I’m surprised I lived to see the day. The 23rd day we will be discussing the Waifoe.”

“Unconventional name aside, I have quite a story to tell you about this beast of hell. Turns out, I accidentally discovered this horror, as no records exist of it. Moreover, I didn’t name it, my eldest son came up with the nonsensical name after I told my story to him, and it unfortunately stuck. However, based on the information I’ve gathered from my encounters can prove useful for the formal classification of this creature.

“To start off, Waifoes seem to be found within deep caves, labyrinths, and abandoned structures all the same. Being a much more feral variation of a mimic and insectoid. As their traits share similarities of the two, moreover, a similar hunting mechanic. The ones I’ve encountered have an average height from 5 feet 8 inches or 1.73 meters when hiding up to 7 feet and 6 inches or 2.29 meters when active. Luckily I haven’t witnessed one long enough to determine a strong lifespan estimation, but for all extensive practices I’ve done on their bodies, the ones I’ve encountered fall between an age range of 50 to 60 years. Physically they have two distinct forms, a hiding form and an active form. Their hiding form always resembles a Human, currently I’ve only witnessed their hidden forms to be various Human females of ages from 18 to 30, as of writing, no male Human forms have been noted. In these hiding forms, they emit mimicries of wailing and sobbing. All of this to conclude that these beasts prey on the good natured, baiting would be helpers into a vulnerable state.”

“Their active form is anything, but their former, appearing much more grotesques and insect-like, with just enough Human features to still remain uncanny. Their many lengthy limbs are sharp and easily capable of slicing its foes, but interestingly, it almost always has at least two of its limbs on the roof of the area. Presumably for the ease of movement. Their active form is only revealed when they are confident in their attack method, so visual or audio clues from afar is the best way of detecting them before it's too late.
