Description “Day forty four of Creature Feature, today we will discuss the grand worms of horror. The Pointed Depth Striders.”
“Pointed Depth Striders; [Poin-tid Depth Strahy-drz]”
“Oh boy the Pointed Depth Striders, these beasts are quite terrifying to both the new and experienced adventurers. Pointed Depth Striders have quite the reputation to them, with many believing that they are bigger threats than the Bassilisk. Pointed Depth Striders are both smaller and weaker than Bassilisks, however the Striders have obscene levels of aggression when compared to Bassilisks. Pointed Depth Striders are large, worm-like creatures covered in segmented scales and adorned with large spikes along their bodies. They have incredible capability for burrowing, creating elaborate networks underground, some of which are able to create pitfall traps scattered across their territory. Typically a Pointed Depth Strider would live in the dunes, canyons, caves, and plains of Estea, however these creatures can be found anywhere in theory.”

“Basic; [Bey-sik]”
“The most common variant of the Pointed Depth Striders, these Striders are commonly found in the plains of Estea. Basic Pointed Depth Striders have an average lifespan of 4 years. Additionally, these Striders have an average length of 15 feet or 4.57 meters. Physically the Basic Striders are unique to the other variants, as this variant is a herbivore. They bear no mandibles and no teeth, and feed on nutrition from soil they burrow through. They function similar to worms in how they feed on decomposing animals and create compost for plants. Moreover, they are the fastest of the Striders. Basic Striders are far from kind, despite being herbivores, Basic Striders gave the species their name due to their habit to ram into other creatures with their spikes. It is completely unknown why these beasts desire to puncture and stab others, but it seems like they prefer to attack each other more than any other creature.”

“Ouroboros; [Oor-uh-bohr-uhs]”
“The most well known variant of Point Depth Striders, the Ouroboros Strider is often found in the plains and canyons of Estea. These Striders have an average lifespan of 6 years with an average length of 20 feet or 6.10 meters. The Ouroboros Strider is purely carnivorous, bearing multiple pairs of dangerous mandibles and pincers. Their most recognizable physical trait is their heads, boasting two heads at the end of their body. Of course this brings many questions regarding their body functions and digestion, as it is now, the Ouroboros Strider is fully capable of functioning, to an even greater extent to the Basic Strider. Interestingly, these Striders are never seen bickering with one another, a trait common with many multi-head creatures. They are frightfully efficient hunters.”

“Devourer; [dih-vou-uhr-er]”
“The most dangerous type of Pointed Depth Strider, the Devourer is only found in the dunes and deserts of Estea. Devourers have an average lifespan of 10 years and are the only Pointed Depth Strider to be seen nurturing their young, thus their age of maturity has been found for this variant, that being 2 years. Devourers are the largest of the species, growing up to be 35 feet or 10.67 meters in length. Their namesake sake alone tells all that's needed to know about these beasts. Devourers are known for being mobile maws, tearing parts of their body to grow more mouths as it ages. Uniquely, Devourers only have a single eye to view the world around them. Being excessively ravenous, a Devourer will spend their entire life eating anything and everything in sight and generally being a plague on the local ecosystem. Interestingly, researchers know the most about this variant than any of the far safer types of Pointed Depth Striders. Devourers are pack hunters, living in small familiar groups where they will spend their lives hunting and feasting. The only deviation to this is when a Devourer births young, in which the entire pack devotes everything in its power to nurture and strengthen the young. Typically, the parents would starve themselves to supply their young with food, even allowing them to die if the young would thrive in their place.”

“Pointed Depth Striders have always been a dangerous nuisance to the people of Estea, from damaging property and structures to causing grand evaluation scenarios. Worse yet, the self-destructive nature of Devourers are breeding continuously stronger young, and this behavior is spreading to the other variants of Pointed Depth Striders. In recent times these Striders are exceptionally more aggressive and require more resources to deal with them. Something has to be done to the species, it won’t be long until a cataclysmic event happens due to the Strider’s ever growing strength and territory.”
