Yes, it's legal. openCanvas1 was originally offered for free on the developer's site, but with the new versions released (which aren't free), they stopped offering it. It's the same program, just others host it now.

A question about the Networking...
If you are to be the Host, and have another friend connect to your IP, what does the HOST have to put in the "Client" tab? Does he/she leave the IP bar blank, or fill it with the other's IP, or fill it with their own IP...?
We are having troubles connecting... lol.

You leave it blank. If you're hosting, you only use the server tab; leave the others alone.

I use OpenCanvas exclusively. So, this tutorial is very helpful. I knew of all the button useages already, but it never occured to me to us it as you do. I have been bothering with lineart and such this whole time. But I like the more free-form over the sketch idea much more.

Read the very first part of the tutorial: "Getting Started." The program comes in Japanese and English, but oftens comes in Japanese by default. Go to the last option (File - Edit - etc) on the right, and you'll see an option for English.

Thanks a lot! I was advised to get oC by a friend who uses it all the time, and I've done some pictures on it, most of which are in ym gallery, but I've never been completely satified with them... I love the program, and I'm sure that this tutorial will help a lot!

It's a free version. They eventually made a new version -- 2 -- which has many more functions, but it's no longer free.

I don't have any facts about this as I haven't used it, but if you (or the other person) have a firewall it's almost certainly due to the firewall. This thread seems like it might have something of help for you: [link]
