Thanks! For the color effects, do use just use a soft brush on a new layer set to 'color', and then fool around with opacity/flow when you are done brushing?

This is great! I've been trying to find a way to emulate the nebula photographs taken by Spitzer and Hubble. I've also been wondering what on earth to do with all of the photographs I have of clouds (I have an odd habit of taking pictures of neat clouds). Thank you for sharing this!

I've used cloud photos I've taken for the nebula (I usually use them as clouds too )
Yours is a great and fast solution. I like your approach to the subject. Great job

Clouds are one of the most useful and beautiful 'artistic materials', you can use them in many ways, not always as sky clouds
