Description
Mask Vector Painting TutorialChapter 1: Learning The Basics of MVP
The tutorial only works for users of Photoshop CS and latest. This is because Clipping Mask is only available in the Photoshop CS and latest.
But there are explanations of other things inside like brush, vector and mask, so users of older version of Photoshop still can learn something from this tutorial.
Anyway, hope tutorial this will help somehow in creating better digital painting for everyone. If there's any question, please don't hesitate to ask or send a note.
^___^ Thank you, i'll apreciate any feedback to regarding about the tutorial, so i can make a better one for the next chapter.
Have a nice day.

This is a pretty good tutorial I think... although I'm not positive because I don't know how to paint like you do in photoshop. I hope you make another tutorial!

this is very cool... thanks! One question... so when you do one of your amazing drawings, you end up with millions of layer masks?

Thanks to your tuturoial, I've finally figured out how to do something I've been trying for months. I used to use gradients, inner glow and other layer effects... but as we all know, layer effects don't scale properly with the image.
It wasn't hard to understand IMO. When's number 2 coming out? I was wondering if next time you could demonstrate this process on a character, or something else tangible. I'm going to go try fix up an old piece I was working on.
Once again, thanx for the awesome tutorial!

I just completed attempting this walkthrough. I had a couple hang ups, but they forced me to backtrack, and attempt to understand what I did wrong. I want to see step TWO, if you would!
I'm interested to see how you used this method to create Tifa Lockheart!

check 1.1.-1 make sure you have the shape layer setting, otherwise the you won't be able to create a new shape layer.

Nice tutorial! I have a question: When using the brushtool doesn't it become a bitmap image? Like.. When you resize the image.. Doesn't the strokes drawn by the brushtool become pixelated? I mean.. It is good to use vectors and such, but all the shading gets f.ked uped when you resize the image and then the point of using vectors vanishes? Or have I missed something?
Example: After the tutorial is done.. Resize the image to 2x2 px and hit okey. Then resize it once again to 800x800px. Atleast for me the shading gets all f.ked up when doing this.
Anyway.. Good tutorial! Hoping for a turorial on how to do a more human/organic shape!!

No, u don't missed anything ^__^ the technique is not pure vector, it just using vector advantages. It's true it won't work when u resize it to 2x2 px n resize it again to 800x800 px .. lol, but it work well and a lot faster when u need to resize mvp based painting from 2000x2000 px to 4000x4000 px compared to a full bitmap painting, and since the resize calculation work on alpha mask layer instead of bitmap layer, it produce more accurate resizing and provide better edges.

This is an amazing tutorial! There are a few grammer errors here and there (naturally), but the tut was easy to read and enjoyable to do!
I tried it out, and my sphere turned out okay, I guess.
Thanks so much for taking your time to do this tutorial! It's so helpful, and I look forward to the next ones!
