Here is a quick tutorial for anyone who is interested.
I explain one of the techniques that i use and i am using a new painting as an example. Too tired to write a big comment sorry D: Hopefully the tutorial should explain itself.

Covers pretty much what I have the most problems with, finding the colors so they blend together.

Good, i'm glad it helps in some way! Colours are the biggest pain when it comes to any form of artwork, whch is why its very handy to get the values sorted in black and white first and add the colour in later

Well I read it completely now, now we still need something to apply it on, already have an idea for a painting, but I still need to refine the very rough sketch.
Btw, when talking about the adjustment layer, you made 2 little typo's, you typed (( instead of ( and 300% instead of 30%).
