Description
This piece is the epic battle between Fingolfin, High king of the Noldorin Elves, and the Great Enemy Morgoth, to whom even Sauron was but a lieutenant. Morgoth stole the precious Silmaril jewels from the house of Fëanor and set them in his iron crown. Many years later, Fingolfin set out to the gates of Utumno and challenged the dark lord to single combat. Morgoth attemped to crush his foe with Grond, hammer of the underworld, but ended up cracking holes in the earth, from which fire and lava erupted.Corel Painter X

This is why Fingolfin is the best elf ever.
Only one thing: the battle took place at Angband, not Utumno. Utumno was destroyed by the Valar when they captured Morgoth the first time.

Ah this is just great, you know? sometimes when you look for Morgoth, artists paint him as a giant black being like a gorilla... I hate that! and here, is the morgoth of my mind when I was reading the Silmarillion~! Amazing Work~!

This is an absolutely incredible piece! You make Morgoth
even more fierce than I imagined him to be. The armor is
spectacularly wicked and appropriate. Grond is not what
I would have drawn, but compliments the armor nonetheless.

You are simply one of the most talented people around this place...I do not know what to say, because whatever puny lil me will say won't do you justice...I just...You're really great. "The Silmarillion" is a great book...and...well, it is just befitting, that a great artist like you'd do something like this for it.

The figure designs (Fingolfin's armour! *drools*) are brilliant, and I really really like the fact that you depicted Morgoth somewhat Balrog-like, with all the visible skin (?) being textured like lava or embers. It seems fitting somehow. Nicely done!

Breathtaking... Apart from the small detail that Morgoth doesn't wear shield, almost exactly how I imagined it! - and I readed the Silmarillion for first time in 1986, before all the poof Peter Jackson's portraits of elves!

That's wonderful! The detail is great. I especially love the lava shooting up and the way the dust is screened over Morgoth.
Quite impressive. It would be worthy of being put in an edition of The Silmarillion!
