Description
For more Lil Formers head to LilFormers.comSo, I put up my initial thoughts on the Stargate Universe premiere in my last journal post.
After having a few days to think I about it I've decided on the main reason that SGU's first episode left me not so blown away. It's basically that the threats on the previous series SG1 and Atlantis, and the scope of the universe have escalated so far that nothing seems impressing anymore. SG1 took us to dangerous new planets, neat! Atlantis took us to another galaxy with the possibility of no return, wow! Universe takes us to a farther away galaxy with the possibility of no return...mm, allrighty.
I'm also wondering who the villains will be on this series. SG1 had the Goa'uld and the Ori trying to enslave everyone. Atlantis had the Wraith trying to EAT everyone...will be tough for Universe to top that with something scarier. There's not really any sense of danger at all on the series so far. Sure they're on a decrepit ship with no air, billions of light years from home. Whatever, they'll fix it & get back. Even the cast don't seem too worried about it, heh.
I guess we'll see next episode.

I see your point but you forgot an enemy who appeared in both SG1 and SGA the Replicators. you can't forget them. yeah sure the goa'uld and Ori were mean and evil to boot and the wraith.....well the name speaks for itself. but the Replicators.... now there is cold heartless precision, no remorse, no pity, not even an inkling of kindness just strait forward machine evilness.I mean even the goa'uld and the WRAITH couldn't even stop them they had to turn to the inferior humans to come up with SOME way of defeating these machines.

Meh... To me Syfy peeked with Farscape. After watching a sci-fi show where the aliens look like aliens (what a concept!!), and the plot lines are so freaking bananas they had you wanting more, everything else kinda was just a downgrade.
Biggest mistake Syfy made was canceling that show!!

Yeah Farscape really was awesome. Shocking to have ALIENS that were not simply humans with plastic ears, brow ridges, or some such.
And in response to RocMegaman X below=YES! SatAnime on the SciFi channel! I remember it introduced me to Record of Lodoss War, 8man After, and Gallforce. Basically introduced me to some awesome things.

I remember when SCI-FI(yes, Sci-Fi, not "Syfy") used to play anime.
I stayed up late to watch that on Saturdays.

Actually, they call themselves "Syfy" now (don't know why, they just do).
But yeah, they still have anime, they just call it "Ani-monday", and yeah, it's obviously on Mondays.

It took me some episodes to get used to Atlantis, so I'm giving this show a chance as well. But right now still waiting to see how it'll play out.
Love me those cameos though.

WOW that was exactly what I thought when I saw the show! With the exception of Voyager actually had a likable crew!
