5 panels, wow! Longest Lil Formers ever?

Just something I have noticed lately, DC has gone Krypton-wild. Of everyone I mentioned, Earth-two Superman is currently dead (he'll be back shortly). and I think Kingdom Come Supes went back to his own time (haven't read that far in JSA yet). Otherwise they're all around, heh.

I think I mentioned everyone but Christopher Kent, who I don't really know much about...

What was wrong with the Byrne-Era Superman?

I am Pinning for a fully powered Superman that is the Last Son of Krypton. I'm cool with Kara Zor-El and Krypto also being the last of their kind. I'm also cool with Zod, Faora and one other Evil Kryptonian hanging out in the Phantom Zone.

Great Pic.
Personally I'm annoyed that they decided to over Pollute Superman Now. I was okay with Supergirl and Krypto and maybe General Zod and two of his followers from the Phantom Zone Surviving the Destruction of Krypton.

NOW......
It seems like everyone on Krypton survived the explosion except for Jor-El, Lara and a few close Neighbors!

Superman is no longer Special being the last Male of his kind! Even Worse, An Evil-GOD Version of him and an Grumpy Old Version of him is taking to the skies!

I hope DC pulls it's collective Heads out of the Silver-Ages A$$ and knock this crap off! Destroy "New Krypton", Revert Kandor to the Post-Crisis NON-Kryptonian Roots, KILL Superman-PRIME DEAD and Get rid of Kingdom Come Supes!

Krypto for the win!

Yeah, that whole last Kryptonian line just doesn't work anymore Supes. Of course, a good deal of the still living Kryptonians are evil(Zod), or following an evil leader(the Kryptonians on New Krypton following Supes Aunt, who is in turn following recently rereleased Zod). Maybe you could call yourself the last "good" Kryptonian.

TonyForever In reply to Wyote [2009-04-06 05:58:25 +0000 UTC]

I agree with you. I personally think that as far as evil Kryptonians go, Zod, Faora and some other Muscle head should be the only survivors on that end.

Clark, Kara should be the true last Kryptonians left. I still have a soft spot for Krypto though

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Wyote In reply to TonyForever [2009-04-06 06:18:30 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but it is a nice little problem, Clark having to decide what he is, a kryptonian or a human(in spirit of course, but I count that).

As for "Clark and Kara should be the true last Kryptonians," there are a few others I would like to keep. Krypto(of course) and Chris, aka the new Nightwing after going through some weird Phantom Zone related growth spurts. And Zod and his three man crew just because they're a sweet concept, an evil group of Kryptonians who would rather take over the Earth than protect it.

TonyForever In reply to Wyote [2009-04-06 06:29:24 +0000 UTC]

I agree with you 100%
I did wish that Christopher stayed with Lois and Clark for the simple fact that I thought it was a natural progression of them as a married couple going to the next level of starting their own family. Irony being that they are raising Zod's Kid is not lost on me.

Regardless of Clark's choice, In the end the Krypton Race needs to be wiped out. (except for those we mentioned) I liked Smallville's answer to the Phantom Zone Kryptonian's having their physical bodies destroyed and being Non-Corporal and once released they had to possess people to even be "whole"

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Wyote In reply to TonyForever [2009-04-06 14:37:14 +0000 UTC]

I agree with that whole natural progression thing. But the thing is, that's also what's going on with Kandor being restored(and Batman dieing as well). These are stories that have always been talked about, things people always knew would happen, it's just no one ever wanted to touch it because it would change everything. They normally left it for What Ifs and Elseworlds stories.

That's kinda why I have more respect for DC than Marvel right now. DC had the guts to do these kind of stories, but Marvel just punks out, the perfect example being Spider-Mans One More Day. They were at a point in the comics where Aunt May's death would have been well accepted by fans, she had found out who Peter was, forgiven him for years of lying, and she even made her peace. Then Joe Quesada saw it as the perfect out to reset everything, getting Aunt May back and getting rid of some things he hated, the prime thing being Spider-Mans marriage to Mary Jane, another natural progresssion in comics, he wanted Pete to be a kid again, but the problem is Spidey had to grow up sometimes, but Joe refused to let him so he destroyed nearly 20 years of history just to get rid of the marriage.

In terms of DC, I guess I can understand the taking of risk with characters in terms of stories. I'm from the attitude that it shouldn't violate too much of what made a character so special in the first place.

Oh don't get me started on Marvel and Spider-Man. (To LATE, now I'm mad!) Honestly Quesada was the worst thing to happen to Marvel. I have serious mixed feelings on Civil War and the results that followed (Captain America's Death and Replacement AGAIN, Iron Man being an UBER-DICK, and Heroes acting like Idiots). Marvel is NOT Marvel anymore. As I said I don't mind stories taking chances but when you F#ck things up so much you can't think of a way to set things straight again instead of hitting a reset button or making things even worse.

I believe the strong Majority loved that Peter grew up/EVOLVED into a strong human character (Marriage and ALL) But after Civil War and the "reset" button being Pressed I have nothing but contempt for Joe Quesada! I want him IMPEACHED.

Wyote In reply to TonyForever [2009-04-06 23:30:51 +0000 UTC]

Yeah change is good as long as it doesn't completely destroy who the character is.

As for Civil War, at the time I hated it, and I still hold some bad feelings for it, but overall I've decided it's actually a pretty nice story. The way it was handled was pretty true to the characters, Cap being against the SHRA, Iron Man being for, and Spidey having mixed feelings(first thinking one way then realizing he was wrong). Plus it help set up things even more heading towards Sevret Invasion. As for Cap dieing, it was a bad thing, but it made Bucky become Captain America, something we all knew was supposed to happen, but never thought we'd see(especially since he had just recently come back to life). The main thing that I didn't like was Spidey revealing his identity, but it could have been pulled off, Spidey being a more underground hero than he already has to be because of the SHRA. Plus some good things came from it, like Jonah and him finally having to settle things. Unfortunately Quesada, aka that idiot running Marvel, decided a cheap cheap continuity change was in order, and also to screw with one of the most important parts of Spider-Man: his marriage to Mary Jane.

Fortunately Pete's romance with MJ is still going on in the Ultimate universe, which is basically what would happen if all the Marvel heroes were created in the modern world, in it Spidey's still a teenager, the Avengers are called the Ultimates and started as a gov. sponsored super powers team, and nearly everything and everyone with powers is connected in one shape or form to the gov.'s attempts to create a Super Soldier, whether they know it or not.

Civil War isn't a bad story, but from everything I have seen and heard, Things keep getting worse and worse since it ended. Regardless of the dark tunnel you want to take Characters and Universe in you got to have a Light at the end of that tunnel. DC despite the absurd amount of Crisis' at least understood that element.

On the Bright Side, That Idiot Stark got Cosmic Karma kicking him (Well Deserved) in the BALLS.

Downside: The Fat Bastard who runs Marvel and a few other Morons think the general Public want a "Season One" Spiderman, not a "Season 10" evolved Human Character that we still can relate to.

Quesada must be STOPPED!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Wyote In reply to TonyForever [2009-04-08 00:32:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, things were getting worse for a long time, but it was all part of the plan Bendis had going ever since Avengers: Dissassembled, and for me it's payed off. It was a long dark tunnel, but things are finally starting to get better: Hank Pym is the new Wasp and really proving himself as the leader of his Avengers team(quite well I might add), Bucky fulfilled his destiny as becoming Captain America, Thor is back and badder than ever, and asshole Iron Man finally got knocked down a few pegs. And they still left a dark cloud on the horizon for the future: Norman Osbourn as head of HAMMER to bring in Dark Reign.

Agreed, Quesada is an idiot who needs to grow up and let Spider-Man be the adult he's been for a long time.

TonyForever In reply to Wyote [2009-04-08 19:46:58 +0000 UTC]

the only thing I got a kick out of from the "reset button" fiasco is when Normon Osborn gains all Tony Starks Political/Financial Power and gains control with Hammer, what's his first major action? To learn Spider-Man's Secret Identity to which he gets a major let down.

Wyote In reply to TonyForever [2009-04-09 02:20:53 +0000 UTC]

? When did this happen? I remember part of the deal with Mephisto was everyone, EVERYONE, forgot who Spider-Man was, whether they knew before his big reveal or not. And I don't remember anything in The Amazing Spider-Man or Dark Avengers about it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TonyForever In reply to Wyote [2009-04-09 08:32:46 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure about the specifics issues, Everyone was mind wiped of Peter's Secret, but it was alluded that Stark still knows and the world at large knew that Spidey unmasked but they have no clue who it was. As far as Osborn's obsession with Spider-Man I think that happened when he first took over.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Wyote In reply to TonyForever [2009-04-09 17:13:29 +0000 UTC]

I heard that the Avengers for made him reveal his identity to the team as well, so there's a few more that know. And in The Amazing Spider-Man, Torch is getting upset at not knowing who Spidey is when he remembers that he used to know, and he set Spidey's mask on fire making him take it off. Of course, the issue ended as he took it off and Torch said "No way!" but they don't actually show who it was, so something weird could still happen so they don't find out his identity, or at least his real one.

TonyForever In reply to Wyote [2009-04-11 02:31:33 +0000 UTC]

I think somehow in the next couple of years, "Fat-Q" will make things worse again (hopefully leading to his impeachment) This idea would take the form of a "Crisis" which reboots everything in Marvel!

(I'd want his head if that's the case)

On a personal Note:
I think it was a Major Mistake that Norman Osborn was still alive after the Death of Gwen Stacey. His Death along with Gwen was one of the Defining Moments for Peter

On Peter's Secret: I was ok with the Avenger's Knowing, I don't remember Torch ever knowing prior to his Unmasking. Daredevil, MJ and Aunt May and I guess Venom round out my list of people who should be in the know. Though I think it might have been funny to have Jonah in on the joke.

Wyote In reply to TonyForever [2009-04-12 01:33:31 +0000 UTC]

No, he wouldn't do that. Even he can't be that big an idiot. (Although the original Crisis on Infinite Earths was to help make sense of DC's many different universes and what not, or at least that's what I heard. Marvel doesn't really have that problem, they have the main Earth 616 universe, the "Ultimate" universe, and then a few smaller ones.)

I personally don't think Osborn should have stayed dead, he's just to good a villain to let die like that, especially since he is one of Spidey's big three villains, his trinity of arch enemies if you will. One is Venom, who is the stronger, more powerful version of him, yet who is also evil and has a great, personal grudge against him. Then there is Doctor Octopus, who is essentially the road not taken; a brilliant mind who gains great power through an accident, but he takes the darker path. Then there is of course Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin. He is essentially Spider-Man's Lex Luthor, a brilliant businessman who causes a lot of trouble for him, yet no matter what he does, he can't put him away, he always finds a way out of it(up until a few years ago that is). Plus, I think it's cool that with all the other goblins out there(the Green Successors, Multiple Hobgoblins, the Grey Goblin, DemoGoblin, a Golden Goblin, and now Menace), he is really the only one to really last. All the others have either been killed, retired, or been freed of thier brainwashing.

Torch and rest of the Fantastic Four already knew who Spidey was before his big unmasking right before Civil War, though I'm not sure when exactly he revealed his identity to them. You're list of people who should know is a good start, two of them his close family, the other two and ally and an enemy who found out by means Spidey couldn't stop(enhanced senses and symbiote memories). I do have a few more people to add to the list though. One is Wolverine who would also find out through an enhanced sense, he just teams up/fights with him to much not to know, plus he is practically his uncle. Of course, Wolverine should know now since he's a member of the New Avengers. Of course, the FF should know, and unless some big trickery is pulled off in the next issue of Amazing Spider-Man, they will know soon. Then you said Norman now knows, which I think he should know since he's Spidey's Lex Luthor and all. Plus, it will make Spidey have an even bigger reason to take Norman down once this whole Dark Reign thing turns into the next big crossover. And Robbie should know, which if I remember right, before the big mind wipe but after the big unmasking, he had told Robbie he had known. I think that rounds out my additions to your list, except maybe Luke Cage because they seemed like they became pretty good friends as New Avengers. Of course, he should know now to since he was also a member of the New Avengers when they forced him to reveal his identity.

Jonah should know? That probably wouldn't be the best idea, since he has that whole hatred for Spidey. They did handle his confrontation with Pete after he found out in the Pre-BND
world amazingly, but him knowing is not the kind I can see while Spidey is running around being a hero.

DC wanted to Follow the Superman Movies, Smallville and the Golden/Silver-Age continuity so much that Modern-Age Continuity had to follow suit, which is unfortunate since Jonathon Kent's character was an important element in Superman's life.

I suppose it had to happen. On the bright side at least Mr.Kent got to see his son become a Hero. In most continuities he doesn't get that opportunity

-In the Golden-Age Both Martha and Jonathon die before he became Superman. Silver-Age when he started as Superboy, They were there for him. I think they both died before he changed his name to Superman.

-The 50's TV show, The Superman Films, The Superboy tv series and Smallville continuities: Jonathon Kent is the only one that "Kicks the Bucket" before Clark takes up his mantle. Only Lois-&-Clark and Superman The Animated Series is where He is alive and well.

-On a side note: in Superman 3 it is alluded that Martha had long died and in 4 she was confirmed Dead. But her status was later upgraded to "Living" in Superman Returns.
