AAAHHHHHHH IT'S DONE! I had so much fun with this. The character designs are so complex and Magic has so much beautiful artwork to use as references...it was just a thrill to work on.

It wasn't only the character complexity that posed a challenge, but also:
-Glow effects (my bane, but I'm so happy with the cast light from the green magic onto the folds in her clothes that I could throw up)
-Fire (again) and its cast light (I'd done realistic fire paired with my style before and it just looked...weird...so I went for a more stylized version)
-An angle I'm not familiar with
-Finding a way to include two full bodies (basically) and a one-handed sword stance that didn't involve the sword being way out of the picture
-Rendering a worn-down metal texture as opposed to a really shiny one (and then pairing that with cast firelight)
-No seriously guys that glow effect. I've been struggling with lighting for so long (particularly cast coloured lighting) that having actually done a good job I'm so happy I could throw up
-And all the other challenges that come with drawing/colouring anything.

I think I have a solid four sketchbook pages completely used up in planning this piece out (rough drafts, colour testing, etc.). I'm glad I put so much pre-planning into it, though, because I'm thrilled with it. (Mostly the green magic. Almost entirely the green magic. I'm normally so bad at that.)

That being said, the scanner completely ate the colour in the magic. So I took a photo instead, but the camera ate the skin shading. I can't win over here. So here's the photo I took, with detail clippings underneath of the skin shading (and the cast magic BECAUSE I ACTUALLY MANAGED CAST LIGHTING HNNNGGGHHH but that's from the photo not the scanner).

One more commission to do for this set and then I can goof off for a few days before opening them again.

Entirely hand done with Copic markers on Strathmore marker paper with bits of white Gellyroll and white Prismacolor pencil crayon.
