Description Okay...maybe that title's a bit unfair. Then again...nah.

Just the base sketch for an idea I'm working on (yes, I really do start my paintings on incredibly quick sketches).

I'm sure I'd have a witty retort, but that one actually made me sad. It's not fair when it's true.
Ah well, at least I don't have to worry about it...haven't had one for about ten years now.

Oh, so that's how you're supposed to make friends......man, that explains the call screening and all the restraining orders

....that was a joke, just in case there's any confusion on the matter.

KaliDesarai In reply to MessmakersWorkshop [2006-11-16 01:53:43 +0000 UTC]

Lmao! I figured it was a joke, geez. And anyone to take that serious really needs to get a sense of humor! And finding someone that will talk with ya is muy dificil indeed!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MessmakersWorkshop In reply to KaliDesarai [2006-11-16 11:49:54 +0000 UTC]

Can't argue with either of those. Personally, I don't think that it's that people won't talk, but more that they can't talk these days. Somewhere along the way, society seems to have weeded out the good conversationalists....along with literacy. I fear for the publishing sector.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KaliDesarai In reply to MessmakersWorkshop [2006-11-16 21:40:37 +0000 UTC]

Very true. People get so involved WATCHING TV! *cough* Sorry... but they dont go out and do things anymore, making lack in social skills very common... so sad... (my brain is fried right now, I was up till 4 drawing for art class)

MessmakersWorkshop In reply to KaliDesarai [2006-11-17 03:56:04 +0000 UTC]

All too true. These days people have a better grasp of emoticon shortcuts than social graces. Wow....I think I may have to rant about that one.
Art class? Ooh..I had one of those once. In umm...third grade. Come to think of it, that was the first D I ever got.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KaliDesarai In reply to MessmakersWorkshop [2006-11-17 19:22:32 +0000 UTC]

LMAO! Your first D huh? Mine was in English in 7th grade... Lol! Na, I'm majoring in Art Ed, so I'll have plenty of Art classes in the next 7 or so years. Lol.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MessmakersWorkshop In reply to KaliDesarai [2006-11-17 20:57:32 +0000 UTC]

Strangely, I think it was also the only D I ever got. Lessee....couldn't draw a straight line with a ruler when I was a kid, but I aced my math classes........currently do commissioned digital paintings and can't remember my phone number.....how the hell does that work out?!

Art Ed? Damn, I don't even have a snide comment about that. It's too....respectable. Rain check?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KaliDesarai In reply to MessmakersWorkshop [2006-11-18 03:20:24 +0000 UTC]

Thats so mean! And since when is being an Art Teacher respectable? HUH!!! None of my art teachers were... well I take that back... But they're all crazy! GEEZ! Lol, anywho, I hate math, tis evilness!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MessmakersWorkshop In reply to KaliDesarai [2006-11-19 02:01:28 +0000 UTC]

Is not. I'd teach art if I could get someone to forge a degree for me (I still don't understand why a scrap of paper with a fancy border and some signatures should prove anything). Not that I'm saying teaching art is a respectable profession because I'd do it, but more that I'd do it because it's respectable, and I believe in teaching for the sake of teaching. Then, of course, I also can't disagree with your assessment that all of your art teachers were crazy...I think it's a prerequisite.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KaliDesarai In reply to MessmakersWorkshop [2006-11-19 03:35:32 +0000 UTC]

Lol! Yeshness, that it would be (speaking of psychotic tendencies and teaching art to go hand in hand). Yesh I just want to try to show others how wonderful art can be. Thats what my first art teacher did, she gave me a love for art! I want to be like that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MessmakersWorkshop In reply to KaliDesarai [2006-11-19 08:39:19 +0000 UTC]

I wish I'd had an art teacher like that. Mine on the other hand was second cousin to satan, and instilled a hatred for art deep in my soul. Thankfully, the hatred for her was nearby. It ate the hatred for art, and mutated into spite for Mrs. Secondcousinofsatan which led me down a happy path of enjoying art because I knew she'd never believe I could.

KaliDesarai In reply to MessmakersWorkshop [2006-11-20 00:12:21 +0000 UTC]

LMAO! I love that, tis great. Well, my love for anime was renewed by my high school art teacher, who told me, " Anime isn't art, its just copying someone elses work." She was evil incarnate. As much as I love realism and such, I also love anime! SO HA! EAT THAT BIOTCH! *cough* Sorry, got a lil carried away....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MessmakersWorkshop In reply to KaliDesarai [2006-11-20 04:18:36 +0000 UTC]

LMAO! Now there's something that I miss drawing; anime. My roomate does anime (when he's actually drawing), and between us I think we have something like 90 anime DVDs (yeah, okay...pathetic, but we're both addicts). As for your art teacher, it sounds like she's one of those snobby, I'm-too-good-for-your-stupid-cartoons types that couldn't find her ass with a radioactive suppository and a Geiger counter. I can't stand arrogant schmucks like that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KaliDesarai In reply to MessmakersWorkshop [2006-11-20 05:14:45 +0000 UTC]

Well what was so pathetic about her is that she considered other cartoons, such as ones created in America, "real" art. GAH! And I own quite a few anime DVDs myself! The entire series of Outlaw Star, all and I mean ALL of Tenchi Muyo, which means all three series and all three movies, and one of my favorites, Howl's Moving Castle. I love that movie! Lol, sorry, gettin carried away here. And yeah, she definitely was an arrogant schmuck as you say, I dont think I ever saw her do any sort of art the entire 3 years in her class. She would be the prime example of the saying, "Those that cant do, teach." As much as I hate that saying, she acutally fits it. Lol.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MessmakersWorkshop In reply to KaliDesarai [2006-11-20 05:37:37 +0000 UTC]

People like that are the exact reason that I never went to an art school. 'Real art.' Phaugh! Uppity wench.
All of Tenchi Muyo...yep, got that...and Kenshin...and Outlaw Star....and Ranma...and Evangelion....and...well, you get the point. Miyazaki is a genius. I think between us, we have all of his movies, including the original release (as in VHS) of Nausica of the Valley of the Winds...as well as a DVD copy...oh man, I can't believe I admitted that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KaliDesarai In reply to MessmakersWorkshop [2006-11-20 18:40:40 +0000 UTC]

LOL! Well Ive been dying to see Nausica! I have Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle, but due to lack of funds I have no more! *cries* But yes, Miyazaki is definitely a genius! Lol.
