Lovely picture - Do you happen to know what kind of trees they are? From here they sort of look like Chinese Lantern trees... *guesses random trees*

Thanks. Sorry but I have no idea what these trees are called exactly. Definitely not Chinese Lantern trees.

can I have your permission to use this pic? I'd like to use one of my drawings with it and make a sleeping winged wolf beside a tree. Thanks

Uhh sure, as long as you linky to the original thing. Other than that I'd be honoured. Lemme know when you're done as I'd very much like to see what you come up with.

Thank you. I'd risk to say it's quite a simple shot, nature is responsible for the effect. That and a hint of RAW postprocessing... Just my tribute to forests I guess.

Well, I have often seen beautiful nature all around me but still haven't succeeded in photographing it so that I could get the best of it in the photo. So, it's very modest to say it's a simple shot Not everyone could have caught the moment like you have done.
It's a great shot and I also like shooting forest photos myself.

Catching the moment pretty much sums it up. It's often hard to be fully in control taking pictures. Forests are a great place to practice control and photography in general, because of how calm they are and you can get away with sitting on the ground and taking pics of one flower/tree for 10 minutes. That's the kind of attention I'd like to photograph with in the streets (and not be stared at funnily).

FatalBite In reply to michalrz [2008-03-28 04:30:38 +0000 UTC]
You're right about that. I also wish it was possible to do street photography like you can shoot photos in the forest, in peace and without people staring at you.

Cars are good for this sort of thing, but when someone figures out you're photographing from inside your car, they'll surely freak out... That's why I'm sometimes thinking of buying a small pocket-size camera with a larger (4-6x) zoom just for those surprise street captures.

FatalBite In reply to michalrz [2008-04-02 07:33:37 +0000 UTC]
That sounds like a good alternative to a big DSLR, for example.

michalrz In reply to FatalBite [2008-04-04 20:52:23 +0000 UTC]
Well, with enough sensor sensitivity and a decent optical zoom, to me, it would be perfect for spontaneous events. Big DSLRs I don't use at all.. they're superior and all, it's just that my point and shoot + photoshop already do almost everything I need right now. But it's still too large for a pocket.
