Description
Basic Photoshop skills required (e.g Layers, able to install downloaded tones/ effects)Due to a high demand, I decided to finally bring out a tutorial on how I draw my manga 'Shadow Sprinters'
It tells almost everything I know and learnt off my own self taught experiences with manga drawing.
I'm not a professional, I merely started drawing manga pages only this year, though people still wanna know how I did it ;;;;
All I have to say is....
KEEP PRACTISING~!
I only learnt through lots of practise and analysing existing manga for inspirations XD

Thanks, this is really helpful !~ ^^
Do you think Photoshop Elements 8 is suited for this?
If you know what it's like, I mean because it isn't CS ect.
On the other hand,thank you!~ ^^

I have a question... when introducing character, is it ok to let the body cut the panelling? you know... like let him take a whole page or mabye let him take the right side of the page and intoduce his whole body??

You never really went to the basics. You never showed us how to do the inking (what brush and size you prefer etc. etc.). The tutorial was pretty good, though. It helped me find a great font and the patterns, so that I'm thankful for. But for me, it wasn't in-depth enough. I wish more people would make tutorials like these.. and maybe go more into the basics. :/

How 'basic' are you looking to go?

Well, I was hoping to see the earlier stages of making digital manga, as I read through this. Like, actual pictures of you showing the sketches, how you do certain things and whatnot. So, basic-basic. But I guess that goes more to just regular manga drawing, and there's actually a bunch of those tutorials out there, so.. never mind. .__.
I would also like to know what tool you used to create the panels. The rectangular tool doesn't seem to let me create hollow boxes, unless I go to blending options, put on a Stroke and set the Fill Opacity to 0%. That's not how you do it, right? Is it? This must be such a simple thing, and yet I don't know how to do it...

Mm yes what you're looking for more for how to draw manga, not what I was focusing on.
I mentioned in the tutorial how to do the boxes. I use a regular brush pen that I used to draw everything else, hold on to 'shift' and drag it vertically or horizontally.

this was THE most helpful tutorial I've seen o how to make my manga look better. I've been searching for a way to make my manga using photoshop (because I hate scanning and stuff and when I scan things in the details and things aren't very good....) but still look somewhat traditional and not as flat. You're tutorial is SUPER helpful and I'm finally going to be able to start drawing my manga I think. Thank you so much.

got a question! do you draw like, directly on the pc or you scan it and then work on it? and with which software (only photoshop or something else..)? I'd love to know that since I'm feeling like starting a digital manga... and have no experience with it... thanx!
P.D: nice work!

I have the same exact thing with sound effects T.T
My experience ended up with a left-to-right (eg Western) doujin using Katakana SFX. I am such a derp. Since I'm redoing it now and inking it properly (using fineliners, Copics, and paper :3) I'll probably use romanji or western sound effects. Even though that'll be harder, since I never read comic books.
Part of the reason for the Katakana was because I wanted to use a "γγ©!" as a gunshot 'cause it was a Death Note doujin *shot*
