Description
this is a new drawing of mine that i think i'm going to make into a print. I've already carved it into a linoleum block, but now i have to learn how to print a lino print...heh. I'll post it if the print comes out.Related content

i think it's funny that you were encouraged to illustration... your sculpture is really unique because it looks so directly translated from illustration. the lines and shapes lend themselves to that, like characters brought to life. i like your picture, it really does have a very "mudmonkey" feeling, and it's hard to keep a feeling from one medium to another.

Great! Your drawing is, in my opinion, just as good as your sculpting, because the two styles are so similar. Lucky you - amazing at both media!

Lino prints rock, I have not done one of those in ages...
Actually I endedup doing mine in a pretty odd way that turned out well, just not sure if it is the right way to do it. Of course the way I did it made each print very different from each other, which is good and not so good.
I took a lot of block print inks and literally put them on the Lino, then with a brush I painted the surface....like a painting. After I was done, I would make the print with the paper, and placed a large, heavey book on the unpainted side of the Lino to press it.
Each work turned out really interesting, and now this makes me really wish that I still had at least one of those prints and the original Lino carving left.
I love this piece by the way, it is simply fantastic just as your scupltures are. It gives off that same emotional feel that I get when I see your scupltures, so to me this is your sculpture on paper putting on a show. The expression of the devil is priceless, no wonder he has horns....he is always the scapegoat for what goes wrong in our daily lives. Poor little devil, he can be my friend. Are you going to make Dongo Toys out of these characters?

Cool. Very expressive.
I also love how you maintain the same style whether your piece is a scultpure or a drawing.

that will make an excellent print. lino is one of the easiest things to print off of, mostly because it doesn't require a press. just a large spoon and a little elbow grease will do.

thanks! ...my profs always tried to force me into "illustration" as a major. I tried to take it as a "compliment" on my drawing skills rather than a negative comment on my sculpting abilities.

well, you are an accomplished "ARTIST" that is the main thing, whether someone thinks you'd make a better Illustrator or sculptor is not your concern you followed your gut and that make you an artist.
You rock
