Yes.... perhaps a bit. He spent a long time doing things that were not his dream. Fortunately, he is doing it now and with rather amazing success! (even has some jazz on iTunes)

the image was done with a 'lensbaby'. It's a very very analog lens where you put in little rings to make the aperture so nothing shows up on the data. It's a cool thing and fits on my Nikon D100.

Yes, he's played music his entire life... but dropped it professionally so that he could "earn money". Now at the age of 59, he's back to full time jazz and making it all happen. He doesn't recommend waiting to pursue one's dream..

when i saw the partitions, i saw that his pose is a musician pose : deep thoughts.
i saw a lot of photographs of some great piano player, jazz, classical, and they always have this pose : reflexion, somewhere in time.
very good shot, this moment was seized.

it is a pleasure to bump into your picture, thanks to that DD... the situation reminds me of a patient in my hospital who was "mentally" ill... all was left in his mind were his beautiful stories... was it part of his own history, that i never knew and never wanted to know
