Well, here you go. It's been about 50 hours and, I hope you like it.It's a commission that the science teacher at my Chinese Education Centre requested sometime at the end of last year, and because I was slack during the Christmas holidays, I left it to the end of January...
The size of the canvas was 24" by 18" and I did the usual acrylic painting like my tanks; I only used the three prime colours plus black and white for the whole painting.
I've got a lot to say about this painting, seeing that it's the best painting I've done to date, but of course there will always be places to change, but part of being an artist is deciding when a piece is done and finished. I've never had much experience in painting clouds and none with the fire, so I may have fluked it.
I hope I don't get too attached to this painting though, seeing that it's being bought off me and I possibly won't ever see it again... T.T

After consideration from my teachers, I decided to change the clouds and the fire. I burred out the clouds and left a little less white to make it feel more subtle. The fire was another fluke and I made it brighter to distinguish it's colour from the wings.

That's amazing. Especially love the detail you put into the folds of the skin, namely the area around the claws.
And I think you did a great job doing the fire and the clouds; that soft pillowy feeling is quite well-drawn.
There really isn't much I can say about this one. I'm going to take a leap here and say it's pretty much perfect.

Thank you very much! Though I still got a bit of critique from my former art teacher today. She said that it'd be better if I made the fire a bit lighter so that the colour doesn't look so close to the wings. And I should probably make the tail and the clouds even less clear at the back.
The teacher also said I probably shouldn't sell it just yet because I could try getting into the art exhibition on Easter, but then she said I should try painting something even bigger; I asked how big, and she said twice or even four times bigger... 0.0

Well that's what differenciates me the amateur drawer from a proffesional art teacher
At first the thought did occur to me that the clouds were too in focus, but I changed my mind. After all, not all of the clouds are part of the background; there are layers in the foreground as well and I think that difference gives it more depth.
Just my thoughts though. Your teacher has every right to completely disagree xD

I don't know about *combat*, I don't think dragons would naturally be like human beings to engage in battle, though it may express such ferocity on prey.

Seriously man..un-freaking- believabe! Beautiful perspective and shapes, so sharp and striking, dangerous yet enticing..really, youve created a great thing here! The clouds are wonderful, as soft as they should be, not too accented, the tones merging beautifully with them! Well done, man, well done!

I don't paint very often but the practice of sketching can ofter be picked up here. I suppose I was lazy in my from the beginning to have left the background blank and it was quite a pain to add it in at the very end...
