Description
Part 2: [link]Alright! Here's the first part of my Toothless plush tutorial! I'm already working on part 4 of the tutorial, so it's gonna be a big one. But it covers every step you need to make a Toothless plush! You're welcome to make some modifications to it if you want, as long as you give me credit for the base pattern.
This part only covers materials and how to piece the pattern pieces together. The links to the pattern pieces will be provided with each part of the tutorial as they are needed.

The pattern pieces had to be cut into several pieces because they wouldn't fit on a single sheet of printer paper. So I labeled the edges of the pieces that need to line up. For example, a side of the wing pattern labeled A would go with the other part of the wing pattern that's labeled A.
Hope that made more sense!

It won't even allow me to copy it to paste into word; I have tried that!!! At best, I am not very computer savy, so I must not be doing something right!!

Really? All you should need to do to copy it is right click on the image and select copy. Then open a Word document, right click on it and select paste. It's working fine for me that way. What happens when you right click on the image you want to copy?

Please help; I want to make one of these for my grandson for Christmas, I cannot get anything to print off. I finally traced the pattern off the computer screen, but cannot get the directions to print off; sometimes it will just let me print off the first page, but not the rest of it. I would be happy with any help you can give. Thanks

Hmmm... What program are you using to print them off? If you're using Word then you should just be able to paste it into a document and press "print".

Ugh, this is so unbelievably cool.
I REALLY want to attempt to make this, but when I brought it up to my mom, she laughed at me and said it would be way too hard... I am LOVING her lack of faith in me. Kinda feel like Hiccup right now. >n>
I literally walked up to her and asked if we could make it together as a mother/daughter thing, and she, as I said, laughed.
GAH, I AM SO MAD!!
But this is really amazing... great job. I just wish I was able to make one myself...

:C I'm sorry, that's kinda mean for your mom to just laugh at you. Did you show her the tutorial and how other people were able to make it and how it's not very hard if you read the instructions? I literally lay everything out for you.

pooglegrundolovers In reply to nooby-banana [2010-10-24 18:02:40 +0000 UTC]
Yeah. I was rather upset.
And I /did/ show her that... :c
Well, actually, I just talked to my friend, and she said that she'd love to help me with it. We might make it together.
I then talked to my mom about it again, and she said that we could make it if we wanted to, but she didn't seem too happy about it, since I told her it would cost around $50. I suppose that for the claws, I could just use the same fabric as the body to lower the price.. :/ Hmm...
Oh, and can you give me a link to the tutorial for the eyes? :3 If we DO end up making it, I would really like to look off of that.
Thanks for putting up the tutorial. C= Hopefully, I can make it now that my friend is gonna help me.

Sweet! I hope you and your friend have fun making it. And when I say $50, I mean AT MOST $50. So if you find some stuff on sale, or you already have some stuff, or just use cheaper stuff than I did, it'll probably cost less.
Here's the tutorial for teh eyes: [link]

pooglegrundolovers In reply to nooby-banana [2010-10-24 22:32:03 +0000 UTC]
Bahaha. Yeah. We decided to just keep the claws as the same fabric as the body, so it only costed around 14 dollars. SO FAR. We still need the materials for the eyes and some other stuffs.
Thanks a lot!! I am so glad I am getting a chance to make a plushie.
My friend and I also wanna make a Hiccup plushie. xD

So about how much does this adorable little guy cost to make? I'm going to make my own and I would like an idea of the price range lol oh and for the links with a picture of the parts that have multiple pieces do you make each piece a page in size or that whole image you posted? Sorry I'm asking questions I just don't want to mess up. thanks
π: 0 β©: 1
nooby-banana In reply to LaxTiger25 [2010-10-20 04:17:15 +0000 UTC]
The one I made cost about $30, but I also had some stuff lying around the house already. At most (meaning if you have to buy everything) I'd say it'd cost about $50.
And you'll want to make each image a page in size. Just click the link, copy the image, paste it in word and resize it to fit the page.

LaxTiger25 In reply to nooby-banana [2010-10-20 19:05:28 +0000 UTC]
ok so the pages that have multiple pieces on them are still only one page in size. I don't have to cut them in photoshop and make each separate piece a page like the spikes for instance, do they all stay together till you cut them out after printing? Or do you make the tail spikes a page, the head spikes a page, ect. Sorry I'm just checking lol don't want to put $50 dollars into this and find out i did it wrong you know? Oh and I really appreciate you sharing your pattern and then making a tutorial
π: 0 β©: 1
nooby-banana In reply to LaxTiger25 [2010-10-21 06:42:48 +0000 UTC]
No prob, it's good to make sure you're doing it right. But no, DO NOT separate the different pieces. Let them stay together until you print them out. Then you cut them apart.

Oh God, I want one! So bad! Does it turn out like huuuugee? It'd be awesome if you could throw in some pictures as well, I was reading tutorial and I'm confused as hell.. And I haven't even started. This will be my first attempt ever of sewing something! It'll turn out like some formless monster, I'm sure. Yours looks adorable though!

It turns out to be 3 1/2 feet long, so it's pretty big. And as far as pictures go, I did draw a few diagrams in the next parts to help you out. But I have to tell you that this isn't really a beginner's sewing project. If you want to do it, go ahead, but it'll be a challenge.

You can find every piece in the description section of each part of the tutorial. The parts are linked to as they are needed, so they're spread out throughout the tutorial.

KaiRedfern In reply to nooby-banana [2010-10-10 01:58:01 +0000 UTC]
Ok, and for the size of each one like in the actual picture of the tutorial, how do you size/print those?
π: 0 β©: 1
nooby-banana In reply to KaiRedfern [2010-10-10 05:26:44 +0000 UTC]
You don't need to print the actual tutorial picture, just the imaged that are linked in the description.

How do you print it as a full page? I've been trying to do it on word but the parts look to small when I print it out.
π: 0 β©: 1
nooby-banana In reply to DietS0da [2010-09-19 18:36:12 +0000 UTC]
When you copy the image into Word you should be able to resize it to fit the whole page. Click on the image in Word and some handles should appear around the edges. Use a corner one to resize the image.
π: 0 β©: 1
DietS0da In reply to nooby-banana [2010-09-19 19:04:53 +0000 UTC]
But it only resizes to the left side.

Does your pattern include the seam allowance, or should I cut extra fabric along the edge for it? And if you do include seam allowance, how big is it?
((if you haven't guessed, I'm going to make my own Toothless! ))
π: 0 β©: 1
nooby-banana In reply to Ravenwings08 [2010-08-29 15:24:50 +0000 UTC]
You add your own seam allowance. It should be about 1/4". Sorry, I should've included that in the tutorial. >_< Good luck on your Toothless!

Ravenwings08 In reply to nooby-banana [2010-08-29 16:33:59 +0000 UTC]

(I don't mean edit the picture; I mean edit the text that YOU wrote under the picture)

I know what's wrong with the official plushies (besides them being terrible. whoever designed them should be fired). the plushies are supposed to appeal to little boys, and you know how boys want tough stuff, so they make toothless look scary, but he also looks stupid.
