OH GOD LAST PART.
I apologize for the deteriorating quality of this tutorial. I meant to make each part look super pretty and nice, but... that obviously didn't happen.
And if you make a plush using this tutorial, send me a link to it! I'll post it up here.

Hahaha, yeah it does! Come to my apartment! We shall have fun Toothless-making times.
The only art stores I go to are Art and Frame, which is a local store basically run by Ringling students, and... Blue Line? I think it's called? It's another small local store. Oh, and there's the campus store. That basically counts as an art store. xD But other than that I don't know.

Yess!! 8D Also looking at the last part if the tut, you don't put any bendy wire in his wings so you can pose em? I figured you woulda... No idea where to get it though ): I've looked all over ac moore and the closest I can find is like thin wire for fake flowers.
And lol there's a full art store run by Ringling students? XD Well maybe if I'm lucky I can try my hand at the local stores. BThink I might be screwed for the work-study program this year so I gotta find a job somewhere else... ): Well least there's always cons! Oh btw are you planning on going to Shadocon in Nov? Me and my roomate are planning to get a table, I still got a free one next to me if you're interested :3

Just get a bit of wire coat hanger no need to buy Specail bendy wire from a craft shop.

I've just finished putting the wings on him - it's midnight here! He does need more stuffing but my daughter refused to wait for me to buy some! She's been waiting long enough for her dragon - that's 5 year old's for you. I am really pleased with it, definitely a labour of love though I'll get some photos in the morning of them both. Thank you so much for taking the time out to do the pattern and tutorial, I know that you've helped make a little girl very happy!

Holy crap, midnight?! Go to bed! xD I'm excited to see how it turned out, and I'm so delighted to hear that I've helped make your daughter happy! It gives me a sort of warm and fuzzy feeling.

Enormous! Mine's come out at 41 inches long. I don't have the wings on yet, trying to get them finished tonight.

alright I have all the instructions and pattern pieces saved to my computer and I'll start working on it as soon as I get my butt down to a fabric store! Oh, but I'm going to try and make a small one to use up the fabric that I have. Great job of putting this together!

nooby-banana In reply to toothlessrocks1 [2010-07-08 22:39:29 +0000 UTC]
It's possible to do this by hand, but make sure you use a reeeeally strong stitch, like a backstitch.

Thank you for the pattern. My only fear is now that other family members will see it and beg me to make more. ^^

how did you do the wing i dont get how to piece them together
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Menocu In reply to lilcrack1990 [2012-12-05 05:16:06 +0000 UTC]
I used a ladder stitch to attach the wings directly to the side of the body. It's the same kind of hidden seam you use to close up the open, stuffing section of a plush. If you use a strong enough thread and a tight enough stitch there is no risk of it pulling off.

oh that's right. I remember assembling that part was tricky for some reason. I don't have my printed up pattern anymore to reference but I remember fitting them together in different ways till ti made the wing shape.
Just cut yours out and try that ignoring the 'tape here' instructions. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

This guy was big before the wings. Now he just looks vast and impressive. I should finish up with his wings by tomorrow and have a pic or two to show off to everyone. ^_^

Just wanted to mention that I think the labels on wing A that match up to wing B are backwards. If they aren't than I'm glad I put this together on photoshop before I cut it out.

I love you forever for making this tutorial. I might make a mini toothless someday, but I don't think my skill level is high enough to make a dragon. XD

you win the internet - all of it! ~♥
also - there's almost no way it could look worse than the official ones - especially if it turns out anything like yours (which I'd hope so if they follow the tutorial )
