Description This animation depicts the evolution of the uniforms of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings.

NOTE: This animation includes speculation regarding 2011-2012 uniforms. These are subject to change.

1967-1969: The Los Angeles Kings join the NHL as part of the Expansion Six, wearing gold and purple.
1969-70: The Kings add a white outline to the crest and numbers.
1970-1971: With gold pants added, the Kings go monochrome both at home and on the road.
1971-1979: The tail stripe on the gold jersey moves down a bit.
1979-1980: The gold pants are retired.
1980-1988: The Kings use sleeve stripes similar to that of the Flyers.
1988-1991: The Kings change their colors from Los Angeles Lakers gold and purple to [then] Los Angeles Raiders black and silver.
1991-1992: The number trim changes.
1992-1995: Due to problems with seeing the silver numbers on a white background, those numbers become black.
1995-1996: The NHL starts its third jersey program, and the Kings unveil one of the most-ridiculed jerseys of all time. Plus, the pants stripe is gone.
1996-1998: Needless to say, the infamous "Burger King" jersey is gone.
1998-1999: The Kings take on a new look, keeping black and silver but bringing back purple.
1999-2002: A new alternate is introduced, and the Kings wear a purple sweater for the first time since '88.
2002-2003: The logos switch places.
2003-2004: Along with Boston, Edmonton, Montreal, New York, and St. Louis, the Kings bring back their '80s jerseys for the Vintage Jersey Program.
2004-2007: The Vintage sweaters are removed from the rotation.
2007-2008: The switch to the RBK Edge system brings a few minor changes.
2008-2010: The Kings break out a new black and silver alternate.
2010-2011: Again reaching back to the gold and purple days, the Kings now have two alternates.
2011-Present: The Kings flipped their alternate and primary jerseys and unveiled their new white sweater at the 2011 Entry Draft.
