Description This animation depicts the evolution of the uniforms of the NHL's Boston Bruins.

-1925: The Bruins take to the ice in brown and yellow.
-1926: They quickly switch to a white jersey with brown and yellow barber pole striping, presumably because the brown looked too much like the Montreal Maroons.
-1931: The design is refined and stays the same for five years.
-1932: The socks become yellow; they have been yellow ever since...
-1933: ...With the notable exception of this season and two years in the late 60's. The logo is replaced with a block "B" and the sleeve stripes are cut down... The origins of the current uniform.
-1936: The yellow socks are back, but more importantly, the brown is now black.
-1939: The pants are now black, rather than plain canvas, and the front of the jersey is adorned with the player's number, not unlike a football jersey.
-1940: The stripes throughout the uniform change. Also, this shoulder yoke would stick around in one form or another for 30 years.
-1944: The numbers become yellow, and a special yellow alternate is introduced- the first NHL uniform introduced for purely aesthetic purposes.
-1948: The yellow jersey is retired.
-1949: For their 25th Anniversary, the Bruins introduce a black primary and a special logo on the white jerseys- the earliest form of the "Spoke B."
-1951: The black jersey gets a shoulder yoke and the Spoke B becomes more familiar.
-1955: More stripes for the white jersey.
-1957: There are now yellow, black, and white jerseys; they all feature the Spoke B. The Bruins are the only team to wear three jerseys until 1995, when the NHL allows them again.
-1958: The black jersey is gone.
-1959: Stripes change and numbers are added to the sleeves.
-1965: More stripe changes, and the black jersey is back.
-1967: Again, the black jersey is gone. From this point until 1995, no team wears more than two jerseys.
-1968: The black is back and both the yellow jerseys and socks are gone.
-1969: There are a few minor striping changes.
-1973: The yellow socks return, this time for good.
-1974: The jerseys become V-necks.
-1976: The ever-present shoulder yokes are, well, not present, and won't return for many years.
-1977: The Bruins use a shoulder logo for the first time, along with a minor stripe change.
-1981: The stripes return to normal, but the shoulder logo stays. Also, helmets become mandatory for all incoming players.
-1991: The pants lose the stripes and the collar is rounded out.
-1992: A "throwback" (it's not really one) is added as the Original Six helps the NHL celebrate its 75th anniversary.
-1995: Back to no throwback.
-2003: The Bruins undergo a fairly thorough redesign and introduce a new yellow alternate featuring their "Teddy Bear" alternate logo.
-2004: The Bruins are one of six teams to enter the Vintage Jersey program, and as such become the first team, along with the Kings and Rangers, to wear five different uniforms.
-2006: It's unclear how long the Vintage Jersey program was meant to last, but the 04-05 lockout ensured that it stayed a one-season thing; the Bruins simply remove the vintage jerseys from the rotation.
-2007: The Teddy Bear is dropped in favor of a throwback.
-2008: Along with the RBK Edge system comes a more traditional Bruins look.
-2009: A new black jersey featuring the new Bruins alternate logo (inspired by their original logo) debuts; it is the first time the Bruins have ever worn black socks.
-2010: For the Winter Classic, the Bruins wear throwback-inspired uniforms merging many elements of old Bruins designs. It was so popular that it became a second alternate for the rest of the season.
-Present: The Winter Classic jersey is retired.
