Chronologically speaking, the Impact-Class Cruiser was the first 'Post-2176' (Now post-174, thanks to some calendar rejiggering) design introduced with this - the first example of its Class - RDF-Ojeni. Placed under the command of Captain Kamilia Blaine and under the aegis of the Republic Exploration Command, it has served capably since and with the addition of many others in the same Class. Categorized as a multi-role long-duration cruiser, the Impact-Class can satisfactorily fill the role previously occupied by the RDF's many medium and heavy explorers as well as patrol-types such as the Equinox-Class Heavy Cruiser. Many of these duties overlap in form and the Class's wide range of superlative systems lend themselves well to nearly any task. Its distinct weakness is a lack of secondary space; less than 5% of the ship's interior is 'interior' and so it cannot effectively perform assignments such as mass excavation and even search & rescue is largely confined to 'search'.

Like the Ascendant-Class Dreadnought, it carries all current RDF systems to make the few corridors and access points an alphabet soup of acronyms and ciphers. The standing crew number from twenty-one to twenty-seven, with a reasonable number of ARC4's to act as auxiliary crew when and where needed.
