Role:
patrol
escort
supply transport under combat conditions (only ships of Intergalactic Marine Corps )
transport of interceptor (not operational)
support of capital ships
Cargo Capacity: 42,000 m³ per hangar/cargo space, a total of 168,000 m³ cargo capacity (usually at least one hangar is used as a cargo hold, but usually two, the other two for the F-302)
Specificity:
only known carrier class in the destroyer category (statement only takes into account federal troops, ignores SDFs and similar local armed forces)
developed before the Union was actually founded, to relieve the Daedalus-Class battle cruisers as carrier ships
especially during escort missions and as fighter support for the then new corvettes of the Teldy-class and the destroyer of the Vaselov-class
so that no valuable Daedalus-class battle cruiser has to be used for these support missions
serves especially to support the Vaselov-Class destroyer with space fighters
Rya’C- and Vaselov-Class together can replace a Daedalus-Class battle cruiser or Icarus-Class heavy cruiser
relieves this two cruiser classes for more important missions
the Rya'C-Class is also used to transport F-302 to distant outposts (frees the Daedalus-Class from such tasks)
to this task, the hangar's capacity can be quadrupled by disassembling the F-302's wings and storing them separately
ships of this class are also used by the Marine Corps to supply IMC units in bridgeheads on hostile planets under combat conditions, especially of course with "fighter aircraft" (don't forget, F-302 are also good fighter aircraft, not just a space fighter)
in this way, Marine Corps units can also be equipped with "fighter planes" in bridgeheads
as a heavily armed "cargo ship", the hangars serve as cargo holds and then each have a capacity of 42,000 m³ per "cargo hold"
but only the Corps actually uses the Rya'C-Class as a "cargo ship", at the USOC the only "non-combat mission" is the transport of space fighters that are not ready for action to outposts
EDIT: 30.9.2020
Concept Change: The Intergalactic Marine Corps generally uses the Rya'C-Class as an armed freighter/transporter, also as a troop transporter/landing ship, rather than just a supply transporter as described above
As a troop transport, a false ceiling is drawn into each hangar, so that each hangar is divided into two decks. In this way, a regiment of marines can be transported in each hangar, including combat equipment, but without heavy combat vehicles. A single Rya'C-Class carrier can therefore transport and land four regiments (50% of a division) of the IMC.
EDIT: 25.10.2020
Concept Change: The Rya'C-Class now also serves as a supply ship, thus extending the operating time of the associated fleet. Usually at least one hangar is used as a cargo hold / spare parts store, but as standard two of the four hangars, the other two are available for the F-302. As a result, the capacity as a carrier is halved, but without these supplies, the operating time of the USOC ships is reduced to a maximum of a few months before the ships have to fly to a base again to load supplies. With the exception of the Daedalus-Class and the Ikarus-Class, I am reducing the standard operating time of the Union ships to a maximum of 5 months, the standard is 13-15 weeks (approx. 3 ½ months). Unless the ships are accompanied by carriers of the Rya'C-, Pah'Mont- or Pendergast-Class, all of which are now also used as supply ships (so nothing changes with the Pendergast-Class)
EDIT:07.12.2020
As announced, here the Rya'C-Class, which has been corrected in size. I left the armament largely unchanged, with the exception of an additional heavy staff cannon turret, cal. 900 mm, for the USOC armament variant.
Otherwise, I used the additional space on the ship's hull for additional sensors and communication systems. The original version seemed a little poorly equipped for a carrier with such components.
here the old version for comparison: sta.sh/01ksvil6ftwc
I deleted the edit entry from 03.12 because this edit was completely pointless.
