Description It's been a while since I made a poor attempt at drawing a realistic Pokémon and try to make what people like Arvalis do but in obviously lower quality than that God of Art. Went for Swampert this time because recently the online Pokemon game I loved, Pokémon Legends, was taken down (www.deviantart.com/olmagon/sta… ) and I miss my Pokémon. My starter from that game was a Mudkip I named Baby Fish, which ultimately became a level 100 Swampert. I miss my boy, here's an artwork in honor of him.

In marshes and swamps of the Pokémon world, various types of Pokémon can be found, mostly water types. One of the largest swamp Pokémon is the aptly-named Swampert, a huge temnospondyl amphibian that stands 1.5 meters tall. Swampert is capable of surviving both on land and in the water, with a set of external gills to breathe in water, but it also has lungs and fully-developed legs and can travel quite far across land, though it is mainly aquatic. A carnivorous animal, Swampert, like most amphibian Pokémon, will prey on most other Pokémon their size or smaller, with Swampert eating mainly Fish Pokémon and large invertebrate Pokémon. Due to its large size as an adult, Swampert has few predators but it has bony osteoderms on its limbs for defence anyway.

Swampert is an extremely rare Pokemon in the wild, but in captivity it is mass-bred as their newborns, known as Mudkip, are popular pets since people liek mudkipz and easy to raise, thus they are also commonly distributed as a "starter pokemon" for new trainers. Mudkip are significantly smaller than their adult counterparts and are noticeably different, although they have mostly the same physical features like external gills and large fins on the tail and head. The fin on the head is sensitive to changes in water flow and weather, and it often rests by burying itself in soil or mud to hide from predators.

Before becoming a Swampert, there is an intermediate stage a Mudkip first develops into known as a Marshtomp. During this stage, the hind limbs become much more developed and when traveling on land, a Marshtomp tends to prefer walking upright rather than on fours. Marshtomp are quite unlike both Mudkip and Swampert in this way, as well as how they have two tails instead of one, one of which shrink as it further grows into a Swampert until it fully disappears. The face of a Marshtomp has also been noted to often show little movement or expression, thus some may find their stare and their upright stance to be a little creepy, and this has been a subject of internet memes.

A full-grown Swampert is able to prey on most other Pokémon in its wetland habitat. In particular, they seem to be fond of eating Corphish in all stages of their life cycle. Corphish is a type of aquatic crustacean that has been introduced across much of the pokemon world, and due to their adaptability they can now be found in most bodies of fresh water. Corphish can survive even in rather polluted water and are omnivores, eating most organic matter, which has helped their spread and now they are even deemed invasive species in some places where they threaten native Pokémon. Some Pokemon, however, have learned to exploit them as a food source, like the Mudkip shown here that has flipped one over and is starting to tear its limbs off one by one.

On rather rare occasions, a Corphish manages to survive longer than usual and grows extraordinarily large. These massive individuals are known as Crawdaunt. In both physical appearance and behavior, they differ from most Corphish. Their exoskeleton is a deeper shade of red and they have a pattern on their underside that is believed to mimic the jaw of a large predatory Pokémon to scare away potential threats. Crawdaunt are also significantly more aggressive and territorial than Corphish and will actively attack people and most other Pokémon within their vicinity, and their large claws make them dangerous opponents. As aggressive as they are, if one of their pincers fall off in a battle, their fierce demeanor soon disappears and they will flee and hide as they wait for it to regenerate. While Corphish are suitable for human consumption, the flesh of a Crawdaunt has been noted to taste nasty and horrid, or as famous chef Gordon Ransei said, "like a Bouffalant's penis". That doesn't seem to be stopping the Swampert though.

Oh yeah, I also had a Crawdaunt in Pokémon Legends that I used when I was a beginner that I named Boston. Stopped using her after reaching Eastbourne City, though, when I got myself a Tyranitar named Tar. Still miss her anyway though.
