Maybe he's watching his Don Juan being rehearsed. I always loved that scene in the musical.

I'm sure one could come up with different background stories for any picture, we all have different interpretations.
What matters is that it's a great picture.

Very poetic way of putting it. I had envisioned him perhaps, seated on box five, watching a triumph of his little Christine with the same piercing, razorblade intensity that any good music teacher posesses.

Sometimes Simplicity can be most effective, my friend. This piece has a lot of atmosphere to it - the charge in the air before a storm.
