Description Oh boy, it's that wonderful time again where old skool Pokemon fans are nagging, bitching, moaning and being absolute fucking retarded Dragonite splooches about the new changes made to the old Pokemon formula. And what is it this time you might ask? Well we've gotten a new Pokemon type! Yeah, haven't seen a new one since Gen 2 when they introduced Dark and Steel. But of course, that upsets old Pokemon fans because they don't like change. Especially when the new one is called Fairy. Personally while not the most badass type what I care most about is what effects it will have.

Ah but then we come to the second problem they have. You see, Fairy types are very strong against Dragon Types. This of course made a lot of Dragon Type fans all saddy waddy because their favorites now have a new weakness. The fact that the game has been rebalanced to benefit most players is of no concern to them. No, Pokemon and therefore their childhood is now dead. What a load of shite.

I don't care if GameFreak had fucked up Pokemon so bad, my childhood would still be the same. I still have the old Pokemon games and the old episodes to enjoy. If you want to live in the past then by all means go ahead but personally I grew over being nostalgic and embraced the new Pokemon from Gen 3 and onward. If I hadn't I would not enjoy Pokemon like Absol, Gardevoir and Wailord amongst other ones and believe me that the new Gens have some cool Pokemon.

And I will end this by saying that no, some Pokemon's type have not been completely changed. They are now their original type plus Fairy. So Maril is still Water and Gardevoir is still Psycho except not I can use her to whoop Dragons even harder. It's the little things in life sometimes that makes it all worthwhile.

Oh, I was talking about the guy who won't even buy X or Y just because Dragons are weak to Fairies.

And now the entire franchise is dead to him, just because of this.

I've been playing since the original games and I love the new stuff. I have some issues with the Fairy type, but that certainly won't stop me from playing the new version. I especially love seeing the changes in the games from the graphics to the gym designs and everything.

Well, if they did something different then it will not sell. Look at PokΓ©mon Snap.

Still, you have a good point.

If I had a dime for every time I've heard some "fans" whine about how "IT"S RUINED!11!" over a change in a series, I would have so many dimes Scrooge McDuck would be shocked.

As someone who is not a PokΓ©mon fan, I thought that Fairy types being strong against Dragon types is funny. Plus, someone I know who happens to be a PokΓ©mon fan pointed out that in fairy tales, fairies are often the good guys that help the hero defeat the villainous dragons (best example: Disney's Sleeping Beauty. The Three Good Fairies + Phillip's Sword = dead dragon). Honestly, I'm wondering how long until a Light type of PokΓ©mon will be released.

I agree; I love all generations and don't understand why fans tend to pick 'hating' over 'respectfully disliking'.

But right now the role of a "Light-type" seems to be sort of split into the Fighting and Fairy-types. The Dark-type mostly doesn't involve dark power (aside from about 3 moves), just mean and unfair tactics. Fighting follows the notion of "skill and discipline will defeat cheap tactics", while Fairy brings the love and happiness stuff into play (an accurate source of leaks states that Fairy will be strong against both Dark and Fighting as well).

Who knows, though. If there'll be a seventh gen, there could be a genuine Light-type.

Because this is the internet, where logic comes to die.

Ah. I see. I really need to get back on the series. I only remember Gen 1 and 2.

I absolutely agree with you. Been a fan since 1996, will always be. These damn "nostalgia" idiots don't understand something called CHANGE. God, so stupid

They clearly don't. I don't like every new change but I roll along with what I do enjoy and not stay in the past.

Of course. With change comes good AND bad, so we gotta adapt and adjust. Simple as that

Pokemon is not ruined.
Some are. :3
I'm being a nostalgic ass over Mewtwo's new form and I totally assume it.
But other than that,I liked 5g and I'll certainly like 6g!

To be quite honest, even with the new Fairy-type, and the new weakness Dragons have, it's not enough to balance the battle system. Sure, it means that Dragon-types are more balanced out, but that'll only mean that people will try and find ways to get around that weakness. Given that we don't have any information yet as to what Fairy-types are weak to, we'll have to wait and see.

Nothing can really balance the battle system now. It's been like the way it currently is since Gen. IV, and it will most likely stay that way.

But still, having a new type since Gen. II is awesome. These people really need to quit sitting in their nostalgia corners.

Same here. It's a given already that Game Freak are going to make some changes to their newer generations. People just need to accept those changes, and grow up.
