If you scour the internet chances are that you will come across 2 very vocal opinions when it comes to the Star Wars Expanded Universe:

The original EU (now branded Legends) is the only canon one and is great. The Disney one sucks by default.

The original EU was complete shit and just poor fanfiction. Disney making it non-canon was a great decision so that they can make better material.

And like usual, I think both extremes are ridiculous. Personally I like both EU's and the good, the bad and the ugly that's in both. Okay I don't like the bad stuff (hello The Force Unleashed's story/characters and Yuuzhan Vong) but I accept that it's part of the whole that is Star Wars.

This is not me saying you HAVE to like both EUs. It's perfectly fine to prefer one over the other and to criticize what you didn't like (as long as it's constructive and not simply ''it's different, therefore bad''). That's what proper fans do. But there is no need for some sort of pissing contest between stans of each universe or demand that one universe should be wiped out and it's fans have no taste. That kinds bullshit has got to go.
