That's a good portrait of the jay - all jaunty angles and gimlet-eyed.

Thank you. It does show that quirky personality that they have.

Me thinks you are mastering this art - very nice shot. BTW - you get a magazine called Birds and Blooms? Your photography looks like it could go in their publication.

Thank you!!! You are the second person to say that . A friend's mom gets the mag, and my friend was suggesting I should try.

GO for it - I think I have a few that might be worth submitting too - at least I have friends and family that say so. Let me know what you do - I might try it too.

Yep, the branches look pretty at this stage. I think it is interesting also to see how little blue these guys can show when they want to hide.

YEa...I think that's where the air forces of the world got the idea to grey out the bellies and undersides of wings..so they would be hard to see from the ground...it's very effective

I never really thought about which appeared first, until I lived near deciduous trees.Things bloomed year-round most places I lived before this house. I once knew someone who was such a city dweller that he didn't really know that flowers produced seeds, because he never saw it happen...

Wow, don't people learn that in elementry school or something? Haha, but if you think about it, the bud would have to come first...because it holds the flower.

True. Yeah, he was a nice person, great chess player...but not very... world-wise. He said he just never really thought about it...lived in an apartment...lived with his gram and they didn't grow any flowers on their balcony, so he never saw them go to seed.
