Wonderful in flight shot, motion stopped very well (I'm a bit torn on this idea - I like the CONCEPT of showing motion, but I like the detail captured in freezing that motion - I WANT BOTH! but can't have it....)

Thank you! I was really proud of this one...and I share your feeling about not knowing which way I want to see the motion either. I do know that working on the flight pictures like this (whether they stop the motion or not) gives me more fun than almost anything else I try in photography.

Beautiful. Herons are look so lazy and graceful at the same time when they're flying. Almost as though they're so good at it that they could do it in their sleep.
The detail is amazing, as always.

Good photo. Birds in flight are not easy.
Not sure until I could see it but I would crop the top so the beak was pointing at or very close to the corner. You may also have to loose some of the blue at the bottom.

Well, I do have to work a bit harder to try to impress all the people with DSLRs and higher megapixels. That's why I'm working on technique so much.

Thanks, glad you like it. Pictures of birds in flight are really tough to do and that is why I keep challenging myself with them. I glanced at your sketches...try more things like that cool room sketch, that stretch your limits and make you try harder...the more things you attempt like that, the better you will get as an artist.
