Description "It's only been in the past few years that the battered male syndrome has gotten serious attention. The latest percentage of battered men was placed at approximately 36% or roughly 835,000 of the 2.3 million abuse cases reported yearly. Researchers believe that those figures are far from accurate for the obvious reason that most men are very reluctant to admit they have been victims of abuse."

Just like how I oppose male rape. I find that the fact nearly no males ever come forward during abuse just sad and depressing.
Women are always the ones that are raped, beaten, hurt, sexually harassed, and depicted as victims on the news. When men are so ashamed they don't ever want their name and face shown after those things happen.

Not saying females don't suffer, but I am saying men don't get much slack or comfort -if any- when they're the victim.

-
In some societies females are feeling more and more empowered and much like some races and ethnicities they are indulging so much in the rights they've got they can push things too far. We want equality not females making men suffer for all the years they were repressed, we want equality not Jews slaughtering Germans for the past, just like we want equality not African Americans enslaving Americans for what was done to their ancestors.
If we simply act like vengeance-craving dogs we'll become what we hate. If the tables are turned then the cycle's just going in reverse.

Have you seen the WWYD scenario on a man being physically and verbally abused in public?

No, but I'd like to read it.

I know they allow public abuse on gay men in many places because being gay means he's "less of a man" in their eyes. Which is bullshit in my opinion.
Someone's sexual orientation does not make them less or more of a person than anyone else.

Its so horrible like wtf. I admit, I kind of abused my bf *I hit him only on the arm* I was younger and I didn't talk to him for a really long time because I was so embarresed about what I had done. Then I texted him and said I was a jerk for what I did and I missed him. He was so happy. Thats why he's the sweetest, he stayed with me and I promised to not do it again. I was a insesntive bitchy little 12 year old -_-
But if anybody celebates anybody for abusing someone the need some mental help because thats just

ugh

i don't think it's the fact that they don't report it, it's the fact that nobody believes them. which is a dirty, rotten, fucking shame. abuse is abuse, no matter who the aggressor or victim is. thank you for making this stamp. it gives me hope that maybe one day, men and women will be treated as one, equal people.

Pearly-There In reply to awesomeartninja [2013-04-07 11:14:28 +0000 UTC]

Sadly those that do are actually muffled out and either handled silently or judged.

One time -if not more than once- in Canada a large group of feminists protested the concept of male abuse being dealt with, but many women were pro-equality as well. Who was heard the most? The more threatening and loud-voiced feminists.

The media as well as society is afraid of the masses, if equal treatment of all genders was massly supported and voiced their desire for equal treatment, it would be accepted within a month. If only it was so easy.

well than we need to be more vocal. not radical, because then we become the very thing we're against. but we need to make our voices heard. Canada is a lost cause. they are not feminist, they are sexist.

Pearly-There In reply to awesomeartninja [2013-04-09 07:35:44 +0000 UTC]

People fear both change and being judged, and those who are victims are experiencing both of those fears. Also Canada's not a lost cause, a great number of Americans reside there and it's just run by someone who doesn't want to allow change in.

Thank you for making this! It annoys me how if a woman hits a man she's considered strong and independent where if it's vise-vera, men are considered horrible and sick. No one should be abusing ANYONE. Period.

👍: 1 ⏩: 1

Pearly-There In reply to SouthParkFan99 [2013-04-07 11:10:03 +0000 UTC]

If a woman hits a man he has a right to defend himself. No man should feel pitiful and weak. He should only be dominated or harmed if it is his desire to be in the bedroom, otherwise no one should harm anyone else. If a gay man had an abusive partner I would be just as bothered, no abuse is good.

There is a total difference between being a masochist and being a victim, many victims blame themselves or are scared to speak out.

I will never support harming a male unless it is self defense or in defense of someone he himself is harming.

Didn't know they existed. Was starting to lose trust in women.

But what should I say to people who believe women cannot cause serious damage to men, therefore violence against men is less important?

(I'm a man, by the way)

Pearly-There In reply to MrDissidiaFan [2013-03-04 05:47:45 +0000 UTC]

Women can be just as abusive as men. There are women rapists, abusive females with male children, and plenty of females who are abusive. Just because males have a history of abusing females does not mean that there's not a bunch of females doing it just as bad to the males.

Thank you for this! I've heard some women say that things such as male rape can't be a real thing because they are men, and therefore all sex is wanted. And that men can't be abused simply because they are men and a woman doing the abusing? Dismiss the thought.

Urgh, there just needs to be equality for both sexes. =\

👍: 2 ⏩: 1

Pearly-There In reply to RogueWarrior869 [2012-08-13 13:46:11 +0000 UTC]

Equality for both sexes along with less double standards.

Recently found out that a gay male is considered "gross" or "Disgusting" by over half of men yet a lesbian is "hot", "Kinky", and "perfectly alright".
Yet to females over half are okay with both gay males and lesbians and don't judge them.

👍: 2 ⏩: 1

RogueWarrior869 In reply to Pearly-There [2012-08-14 01:43:40 +0000 UTC]

That would be very nice.

On that note, I have seen more then a few male/male supporters say that is sexy while lesbian sex is gross. They were females saying that.

Personally, aside it not being my business, I don't care who other people are in relationships with. Just as long as neither side is abusive, etc.

Why should men come forward? If they're even believed, they're more likely to be mocked or arrested. A lot of this is left over cultural notions of men as agents and women as objects, but would you like to guess who is really responsible for these men recieving neither sympathy or aid? [link]

👍: 2 ⏩: 1

Pearly-There In reply to lordmep [2012-08-04 17:20:39 +0000 UTC]

Never was very fond of feminists. The day I saw a little boy get chewed out for holding the door open for an adult was the day I grew sickened by my gender more than the preps, cheerleaders, sluts, and whores I saw in school ever did. Then came the whole "men are nothing but sperm-doners and hold us back, they're useless and the weaker sex" speech from a few and I felt my sickness intensify more than words could express.

I've been abused by men and even sexually assaulted by a kid nearly a third my age, I'm not gonna be some tyrant monster who hits and beats the crap out of men because they did it to me. I'll fight back hell yes, but I'm not going to bash and harm a male who has done nothing to deserve it.
That would be like a African American shooting me because I'm white and his ancestors worked as slaves. It fixes nothing. It only adds salt to a wound that is barely healing.

Women and men are barely that different. Both work and act differently but they're both still human!

More or less I'm one that hates to be a quitter and stands my ground on what is right or not right. I know what's right and wrong and tend to look at both sides of things more than just one. There's several things I know people dislike me for having opinions on, but stuff like this I'm steadfast over. Men shouldn't be abused, nor women, nor children, nor animals(and not the playing stuff that people call abuse, the REAL abuse), I think everyone needs to have a voice or a right, but not if it hurts others in irreparable ways.

👍: 1 ⏩: 2

Pearly-There In reply to CHCHcartoons [2012-08-04 16:56:59 +0000 UTC]

Most likely the same reason blacks always get judged worse for things -even the stuff they don't do- because they fit the 'typing'.

Double standards also has a huge part in it all.
A woman can walk up and punch a man in the balls(this can actually kill them if aimed right it causes so much pain) and it's "playing" or a "small fight".
A man shoves her away or punches back, it's abuse, battery, etc/

Because men have always been protested for being abusive in the past so the now/present should totally be weighed over their heads now.

Because feminists have done quite a successful job of painting all abuse as the big bad man beating on the poor innocent woman. Nevermind how most violence is recipricol or how women are the primary initiators. Nope. It's just men beating on women and you're not allowed to think otherwise.
