Well, here it finally is, the update to the Honmaru Palace map that I submitted close to two years ago now. I can't really begin to say how much work I put into this. It's as accurate a depiction I can get to of what Nagoya castle would have looked like in the mid 19th century. I spent almost as much time making the map and tiles for it as I did researching the different buildings, walls and the placement of it all. It's pretty hard placing everything in an up/down view using photos taking on the ground.

I actually went to Japan in November to see for myself, which was very helpful in getting the final small details right, but luckily I didn't need to move anything around. I had to abandon the usual grid completely to get it to work, and although I originally planned to add Pokémon, NPCs and so on I decided in the end that it'd be better to keep it as a non-Pokémon map.

To give you a sense of scale, if a person was a 16x16 tile wide on this map it'd still need to be 3x larger to be scaled correctly. And this is only the inner most part, the castle complex is absolutely massive. I may update it in the future to include the whole thing, but not much documentation of those parts exist as they have been mostly demolished.
