I've been kicking this one around for a while; if you are looking for the logic in Miyuki's motives, don't look too hard.

Based on the skyline in their window the girls live up toward Twin Peaks, while the letter indicates they are somewhere at the west end of the Richmond, which makes more sense in terms of what they should be able to afford. I'll just assume that there's some gravitational lensing going on outside (and if I didn't tell you you'd never have noticed).

Also, by stretching her arms up in the second panel, Miyuki is revealing her bare butt to the balcony window (I didn't tell you you'd still have noticed). For those of you who own shorty robes make of it what you will. If the recycling guy looks up it will be the highlight of his day, at least until she fills the kitchen with ball lightning 45 seconds later.
