Wow! This is so simple and easy to understand! I've only recently begun using GIMP since I had to leave PS behind once I graduated from school... and I never realized how much I could do with GIMP! XD
Thnks so much for your help... This is definitely one of my new favorites !

Thanks for this! Most of tutorials I could find were for Photoshop and not for elements (you can't animate on elements or does it have a pen/path tool).
This should be quite helpful!

I know that you've had this tutorial up for several years now, but I've only just found it and I wanted to thank you so much for taking the time to put this together! I don't have a tablet and nor do I have photoshop, so this is extremely helpful.

I never considered doing it that way. I'm not very smart either so I do everything the hard (yet oddly creative and very made up) way.
I appreciate the tutorial. *nodnod*

I hate lining and I use ps elements. But I think it'll work in elements too. Might have to go back to gimp for lining. Awesome tutorial.

Yeah I haven't figured out lining on elements, but just tracing the sketch on elements makes it look super cool. ^^ GIMP is good for lining because that's what I know how to use xDD

I'm wanting to post a lineart here on dA, but it's an xcf file.. >.< i know I can save it as a JPEG or PNG/GIF or whatever, but I want it to be an xcf, so people with GIMP can really color it. I tried submitting it, and i got a preview image and everything, but it won't let me submit it because 'unknown files are not allowed' in the category I posted the lineart to. Well. I tried every category, and apparently unknown files aren't allowed? Help? DXX

quick question: how do you make new lines without having to continually make a stroke path with each new line made?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Stephanie-inlove In reply to Bluebiirdys [2011-01-31 23:32:52 +0000 UTC]
you can go to the paths and merge them together then stroke them all at the same time.
hope this helps.

What kind of troubles were you having?

torakoh In reply to MDVillarreal [2011-01-07 11:40:49 +0000 UTC]
more than I wanted.
for example it doesn't take the color I chose, it's always gray.
but what I meant was that I'm still very unexperienced with GIMP 8D

torakoh In reply to MDVillarreal [2011-01-08 11:23:04 +0000 UTC]
dunno, but if I use the mouse it draws with the color I've chosen
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MDVillarreal In reply to torakoh [2011-01-08 22:23:07 +0000 UTC]
are you selecting the same colors for both? The tablet and the mouse both have different color selections. If you pick say red and yellow with the tablet but don't pick them also with the mouse, when you switch to the mouse it will only show whatever the colors were you last had.

Umm... I'm not slow or anything.... Okay, MAYBE I'm a little bit slow but can you tell me what 'Opaque Brush' is?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MDVillarreal In reply to xTaangforevahx [2011-01-04 22:06:41 +0000 UTC]
I think they just mean to use any kind of solid brush (not necessarily a fuzzy brush because you want to define the structure you'd be working from).
