Random question, if you have Gimp 2 would this tutorial apply to that version as well?

Yes. Things might be slightly different in your layout, but it's all the same at the core.

When you select to stroke the line, are you selecting a line size or are you using "emulate brush dynamics"?

NaoIchi34 In reply to MDVillarreal [2011-01-05 00:55:30 +0000 UTC]
Emulate brush dynamics? Where is that located in Gimp?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MDVillarreal In reply to NaoIchi34 [2011-01-05 02:13:41 +0000 UTC]
Under the path tool, when you go to stroke the line you'll get a dialog that will ask for a point size or for the option to use a tool (ink, brush, pencil) and to emulate the brush dynamics (simulates the effect of fading out at both ends).

when using the Ink tool and emulating brush dynamics, tweak the scale of the ink tool or you may end up with a really small line LOL

are these different ways of doing it or is it all in one step
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MDVillarreal In reply to tokidokiluver100 [2011-01-04 22:09:47 +0000 UTC]
It's all one method. The basics of setting up any picture for coloring is to have the inks/outline on the top most layer and all your separate color layers beneath it.

ok so i need help, when ever i try to shade some thing on gimp it leaves all these white spaces like this

what can i do to get rid of it please help me

MDVillarreal In reply to Stacy-the-Skunk [2011-01-04 22:11:16 +0000 UTC]
Are you trying to use the magic wand tool and color directly inside the lines? If so, you're gonna get the fuzzy edges. The way to work around that is to separate the inks onto a different layer and color underneath.

doyou know how to enlarge the line art on GIMP?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MDVillarreal In reply to MrOtterson [2011-01-04 22:12:03 +0000 UTC]
You can make the picture bigger by scaling it and selecting "fit image to canvas." But beware as enlarging it will make it pixelated.

Just name the file with .png instead of .xcf .
I always convert my GIMPs to jpg, but I think it will work with png as well.
I hope this helps
