Actually, I'm glad someone represented plus size AT ALL. Normally in anime (or some other media), they'd stick a thin head on a thick-ish body and call it plus size, or they make a very round woman with no breast development, sometimes with skinny arms and legs, and make her face look too simple or purposely unattractive. And the stomach would probably look flat from the front, but maybe just add a curved line below her stomach. It would make all the difference.

Finally, a muscular woman who is realistic.

And I'm glad you put height and age. I don't think I'd ever think about putting a little person/person with dwarfism in my works simply because I just never thought about it, but it's good to know about a little adult proportions are different from an average child's proportions.

Actually, women are harder to draw than you think! The real reason the industry likes slender teen girls isn't because they're all that easy to draw, let me tell you. It's fanservice. Ugh.

Yeah, Anime isn't a great place to look for diversity(let alone just body types).

Yeah they are, that's why I did a female tutorial rather than a male one. Males are simply easier to draw.

Oh I know, teens are difficult, so there must be another reason, especially since most animes are so cheaply produced!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

On deviantART there is a lot of just "one size" for females. A lot of artists don't know how (or do not want to) go out of there comfort zones when drawing different body types.

I want to thank you so much for creating this to show that there are many different body types and showing how to do it.

I can not thank you enough. I was sick and tired of seeing the same size on females. It makes art a little too similar and bland.

Thanks very much! I'd definitely have to agree with you there.

While some artists are hired for a particular body type that they're good at drawing, others only know how to draw one type.

Man the human body is so complex.... this is why I like drawing animals better. haha. You make your proportions 1 degree off and its so obvious.

Yeah, even when bodies are heavily stylized, if something's off, it's noticeable.

cool thanks for all the hard work and info.  Will you ever do one with the woman pregnant? or Expecting?  whatever the term is....please?  Or have you done one and I did not  know about it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Phobos-Romulus In reply to ZeroChainYuy [2014-07-16 01:13:42 +0000 UTC]

I have not, and probably won't. Pregnant isn't really a body type, it's just an addition onto an already existing bodytype.

If you need reference for that, I'd just use google and apply what you learn to drawing any of these bodytypes.

MellonSunrise In reply to ??? [2014-07-15 21:46:04 +0000 UTC]

Please don't take this as an insult... and I am in no way one to use bases... but I'm simply curious... Why would one care so much about not having their work used as bases, especially if people are asking and also providing credit to you. Again... I'm not asking because I want one... XD It just... never occurred to me not to allow it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Phobos-Romulus In reply to MellonSunrise [2014-07-15 23:10:42 +0000 UTC]

I don't think there's a way I can say it without sound insulting in one way, but I think people who use bases are cheating to a degree. Using premade bodies doesn't help you get better at drawing them yourself, y'know?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MellonSunrise In reply to Phobos-Romulus [2014-07-15 23:46:42 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I didn't really think about it like that... ^^ You're right, you never really get better when you're not even attempting to draw your own pictures. Well, thank you for answering... that makes sense.

Moreso a height difference, like a short height and full proportions as opposed to a more average height.
