Description About the MOC
This is another MOC that happened kind of by accident or on a whim. After seeing 's Grind Star I was inspired to use my Dark red and black Marbled/gradient parts to make something. The end result became a chopper style motorcycle. I suppose thinking about how the wheels come from the Furno Bike or Speeda Demon 's motorcycle is what led me to go the direction of a chopper. I started with an initial idea for the front forks which turned out very well.
Then I spent three days on the rear wheel. I didn't illustrate it here in the photos but when you turn the rear wheel, a series of gears connected to the turntable part on the other side make the hub/rim counter rotate. So if this chopper was roaring down the street the back rim would be spinning the opposite direction. This is probably one of the most complicated pieces of functional design I've ever created. I spent three days just working on this section alone. I first got it, then I spent two days refining it so that the turn table and rim were closer to the wheel. Check out a video of the rear wheel in action here .
Now I had sort of a back and a front and had to bridge the two. I struggled with this until I finally scrapped the front fork design keeping the ideas I liked(like the Pyrox mask and the Piraka feet ), doing a lot of research by looking up many photos of the key areas of a chopper to really understand how they work and build the MOC like an actual chopper(i.e making the frame, then connecting the forks, building the engine, transmission, gas tank, etc).
This was quite an interesting build in the sense that it's both symmetrical and asymmetrical at the same time. It was a lot of fun chunking through this build one actual part of a motorcycle at a time. I felt like one of the guys on those chopper shows like Orange County Choppers or Biker Buildoff that used to be popular on The Discovery channel.

This is the first MOC of mine to really benefit from me moving my laptop into my MOC room. I relied heavily on photo searching google to look at the different aspects of choppers. Looking back on it I realize I went for a "simplified realism" approach. The chopper features things like head and tail lights, license plate, gas tank with spout, brake controls and brake lines on the handle bars, functional drive line(wheel connected by Technic chain to "transmission" which is connected via belt drive to motor), engine with fuel line and semi-realistic foot controls(clutch). Though I didn't get too obsessed with the details. I thought about adding things like gauges and other technical bits, but felt they would have distracted from the simpler edgier look of the bike. Thinking back on it, the license plate is probably a bit much as well. The nice thing about Choppers is there's a great many kind, from very commercial to customization to the extreme of impracticality and everything in between. This in a way was freeing because I could make it as long or as short as I wanted, make the gas tank or seat however I wanted and I even came across some that had an open sided wheel like this one has. This also presented a bit of a challenge as I had to look at many different kinds of cycles to see what the "common denominators' where. At the end of the day. I think I did a good job recreating a chopper fairly accurately thanks to having a laptop handy to reference photos. Man I shoulda gotten into the habit of taking my laptop in with me ages ago. Now it'll be a permanent fixture in my MOC room.

I got the idea to call it Cerberus fairly early on, but the reason for it changed about midway through. Initially I was going to call it Cerberus thinking that it would figuratively have three heads, the Pyrox mask on the front wheel, the Kalmah head as the gas tank, and the rider's actual head. However several other head pieces were added as I finished out the build. So now I count the pyrox head and the two wolf heads on the handle bars as its "three heads."
For those of you who might not know, Cerberus is a rather famous figure in ancient Greek Mythology. He is typically depicted as a three headed dog with serpents all over his body, though modern depictions show him mostly as three headed dog of some sort. The serpents don't tend to stay. Cerberus guarded the gates of Hades to keep anyone from escaping. The Twelfth trial of Hercules was to subdue Cerberus without the use of any weapons.

Thanks Atari. I'm glad you like it. I would hope it does, I spent a lot of time staring at pictures of Choppers on my laptop that's now in my MOC room. I think I got all the major components of a chopper in there.

You're welcome! :3

Yeah, sorry 'bout that. All of a sudden I find myself having to help someone move in with a shitload of heavy furniture.... And a big ass bronze elephant. All the strain on my muscles has also been causing my kidneys to hurt: I really could use a kidney/weight lifting belt. But, I now have $30 of which I just spent on BL: hopefully the shipping won't kill me dead though. Hopefully this link will work-Β  www.bricklink.com/orderDetail.…

Nope didn't work. I can't look at your orders. Only you and the buyer can. If you wanna show me the order you'll have to screen cap it, preferribly the whole page, then photo edit the sensitive information out.

I'm glad you got some parts though. I can typically make a BL order stretch pretty well with $30. My last order for the chopper was about $30 with shipping($28.83 to be precise). So it was about a $25 order. I didn't even end up using most of the parts I got from it. Just a couple armor parts and the technic chain which was the main reason for making an order. Well even if you can't show me the parts. I hope you put them to good use Simeon.

Not yet including shipping the order total is under $18.

Oh man, great MOC so many tiny details that I love. I love the handlebars, the light up exhaust(?), the modular design of the build. A microbuild that I am particularly impressed with is the engine block, you did such a good job making it evocative of a chopper engine. It's too bad that we can't see the spinning rims That and the lights make this a pretty ghetto chopper. Can't wait to see the driver you have instore . One question though, can the front wheels spin with the Piraka feet?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to welcometothedarksyde [2014-02-22 04:52:40 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Liam. Yes that's part of the exhaust. Not exactly sure if it would represent fire coming out of the tail pipes or just a light up thing. I'll leave that up to you guys to decide. Thanks again. That actually was one of the easiest parts because I initially thought of the nuva chests to make up that part. "topping it off" was the challenge but thankfully I got some of those ninjago spinner bits from a couple of the bags from the Ultra Sonic Raider set. It was during Bricks By The Bay and one of the vendors had all these loose bags of parts, some were actual set bags others were stuff randomly ziplocked together. So I got like two bags of that set's parts. Which is where I got the extra set of Motorcycle wheels. Those ninjago parts proved to be the perfect parts for there to. I initially was going to stick them on either end of the belt drive so that they'd spin when the wheel moved. But it all worked out for the better.

I think I'll make a short video of the motorcycle rolling around a little. You already got to see it in action though on Skype. And sorry for having to cut that short. I had to get going to my concert, which was fawking awesome BTW. I'm still a little sore from being squished against the stage. And thanks to all the crowd surfers I got kicked in the head like five times but it was worth it cause Mikael(singer) was literally right in my face several times cause he likes to get right at the edge of the stage in the audience member's faces. Anywho, yeah I guess it is a pretty ghetto chopper with lights and spinners. Damnit, I've been living in Stockton CA too long. And I already answered your question on skype. I wouldn't make a design where the wheels couldn't spin. I think you should probably know that about me now. If it can't move or function its not good enough for me.

I'm a huge Harry Potter fan Β Β XD I honestly liked the ending, but only because of all the complexities of the web that she wove. If it was just a "they dueled, and against all odds, Harry won! Not me. I'm sick of all the happy endings. Its gotten to the point where they wrap everything up in a perfect little bow with complete resolution, just so they can untie it in the next installment. I'm sick of it. I wanna see the hero die and be like "Fuck you and your sequel."Β

I wanna do a super hero movie, but where the super here doesn't win, barely puts a dent in the enemies plans and ends up killing himself. Like I said *BANG* "fuck you and your sequel now go home and swallow that." It'd get terrible ratings though. Audiences today can't handle anything like that.
