Description Description and bio. Marvel at the colossus of the desert, devastator of plateaus, a mechanize malicious menace...MOTOTAUR! Part man, part savage beast, all fury. Mototaur is core member of the Insurgence Of Darkness, trumped by only one other member, but only in cunning. His size, that of a mountain, strength far surpassing that of protosteel, speed aided by his motorized feet and body, is reach, that of the length of a kohli field with his bohrok head morning star.
Mototaur is very old, perhaps one of the oldest members of the insurgence. It is said that he was unearthed from deep within one of the nui islands, released from imprisonment set upon him long ago by the order of mata Nui to wreak havoc upon the deserts of Metru nui. Despite being old Mototaur acts and moves as if he were young. This is perhaps the result of a hibernation brought on by the imprisonment. It is known that Remaku is the one who sought him out and released him. The details are all rumored as Mototaur's wrath upon the sands was of a sudden one, appearing as if a sandstorm. Villagers of the various desert regions simply stay out of his way and bend to his will, for he could singlehandedly be the down fall of a village. Only teams of toas and titans have bested him, and only rarely

The new build
Mototaur got a massive overhaul from the previously "completed" version. He's been completely rebuilt from the abdomen down. A third pneumatic piston was incorporated into his torso for optimum stability. His forearms redone to include Caterpillar tracks in them. His neck has been fleshed out, his head received additions and additional armor has been placed here and there. This revamp has proven most challenging at ever turn, even leading me down dead ends thusly having to backtrack.

Unfortunately, he's not everything I envisioned in the new designs. His stability is near what it used to be but sadly not of the standard I'd like it to be and I lack the proper parts to adequately see this though. But his designs are sufficient enough to be shared and considered a Complete version of him. In due time I will once again revisit what by now is probably my signature MOC to hopefully improve upon what I deem to be inferior designs and make hims stabler and more poseable. Maximum stability and poseablity is my ultimate goal with these larger MOCs.

Now while its said that this is Version 3, this is actually a much later version, but I've lost track of how many version I had before the first version posted here on

Detail layout Can be viewed here.

*update*

I can't believe it, I got a DD Thank you so very much To ~Alex-Darkrai for suggesting me and having some truly kind words to say about My work. I humbly accept this great honor I really hope this will shed some much needed light in the bionicle MOCing Community here on Deviant art and incourage more MOCers to make the switch from off site locations to here for their MOC hosting and socializing. Once again, thank you so much every one.

Oh and I promise I'll get to all your comments. And thank you to everyone who faved any of my Deviations.

I could use some mocing advise if you had the time, you see im planning on undertaking a large project in the near future and by large I mean like mototaur and seeing your so good at that stuff I come to you for advice.

Sure. Building big means engineering solutions to problems. When you start piling that much lego on itself you'll see that you have to start thinking more like an engineer and find ways for the parts to support itself. Using lots of moving parts to all work together is a great way to make that happen. Also, if it doesn't work at first keep trying different things. Build multiple version and keep improving on it. It took me a few years before I had really big MOCs and I improved on the designs as I went. The nice thing about building big is there's lots of room to add cool parts or make the design work how you need. You can also build hollow spaces to make the MOC look like it's big without necessarily having to fill all the space. There's no one set way to build so I don't wanna be too specific. Just do what you think works and build to make yourself happy. As long as you're satisfied that's all that matters.

At his normal stance he was about 2 feet tall. But if he was fully extended then he was about two and a half feet tall.

I can guarantee if this was a set it'd be about 300-500 bucks.

Still, I'd buy it.

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to BanditNation [2015-05-11 23:42:58 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. It'd be a lot like Pete Ried's exo suit though, the set would be a simplified "legal" version of the original. Who know's what that would look like of Mototaur, it certainly wouldn't be this.

You wouldn't. There's no blue prints or instructions. This is a creation I made myself and I don't make instructions. Making instructions would have been very very time consuming and difficult. Not to mention this MOC isn't built anymore so I couldn't

Restarted building Bionicle creations after seeing this monster. Made me realize how awesome lego could be (kinda got me out of the down phase where lego "isn't cool anymore"). Just created my da account to share my MOCs and I'm looking forward to see your next colossus creations. Really liked the Rahi Tiger also!

Thank you. I'm glad my work could inspire you to get back to building yourself.

I don't know when I'll be building another big MOC like those. Its not all about the big ones for me. I like spanning all the various sizes and shapes I can. But I think I'm overdue for another colossus. Its been a while since I've done one.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

guitheone1 In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2014-07-25 18:55:31 +0000 UTC]

Yea creations of all size can be awesome, IMO colossus are just impressive because in the first place most pieces were made to build Toa sized bionicle and not creations over a foot tall haha. Anyway colossus or not, your MOCs are pretty much all awesome and well constructed!Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to guitheone1 [2014-07-25 20:31:26 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. Its not that they're not meant for it. Its lego they're meant to be used beyond the capacity they were used for in the sets. It just takes a lot of engineering skills, parts and patience to build this big. All three of my colossi were built before Hero Factory came around. And I know from experience that HF allows for stronger joints in more concise spaces, so making a Colossi now would be easier than ever I think. At least for me it would be. If you look past what the parts are used for or are meant to be used for, that breaks down mental barriers and you can start seeing what a part could be. That's the key to good Constraction MOCing, taking parts and using them in new, innovative, interesting and diverse ways that the sets never touched on.

guitheone1 In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2014-07-25 22:18:33 +0000 UTC]

Yea using the parts in new ways is what makes MOCs so awesome, that tiger rahi you made was one of the best examples. I'll try to build a big guy soon I'll submit it in the MOCersleague group when finished!
