Description
Description and bio. Marvel at the colossus of the desert, devastator of plateaus, a mechanize malicious menace...MOTOTAUR! Part man, part savage beast, all fury. Mototaur is core member of the Insurgence Of Darkness, trumped by only one other member, but only in cunning. His size, that of a mountain, strength far surpassing that of protosteel, speed aided by his motorized feet and body, is reach, that of the length of a kohli field with his bohrok head morning star.Mototaur is very old, perhaps one of the oldest members of the insurgence. It is said that he was unearthed from deep within one of the nui islands, released from imprisonment set upon him long ago by the order of mata Nui to wreak havoc upon the deserts of Metru nui. Despite being old Mototaur acts and moves as if he were young. This is perhaps the result of a hibernation brought on by the imprisonment. It is known that Remaku is the one who sought him out and released him. The details are all rumored as Mototaur's wrath upon the sands was of a sudden one, appearing as if a sandstorm. Villagers of the various desert regions simply stay out of his way and bend to his will, for he could singlehandedly be the down fall of a village. Only teams of toas and titans have bested him, and only rarely
The new build
Mototaur got a massive overhaul from the previously "completed" version. He's been completely rebuilt from the abdomen down. A third pneumatic piston was incorporated into his torso for optimum stability. His forearms redone to include Caterpillar tracks in them. His neck has been fleshed out, his head received additions and additional armor has been placed here and there. This revamp has proven most challenging at ever turn, even leading me down dead ends thusly having to backtrack.
Unfortunately, he's not everything I envisioned in the new designs. His stability is near what it used to be but sadly not of the standard I'd like it to be and I lack the proper parts to adequately see this though. But his designs are sufficient enough to be shared and considered a Complete version of him. In due time I will once again revisit what by now is probably my signature MOC to hopefully improve upon what I deem to be inferior designs and make hims stabler and more poseable. Maximum stability and poseablity is my ultimate goal with these larger MOCs.
Now while its said that this is Version 3, this is actually a much later version, but I've lost track of how many version I had before the first version posted here on

Bloody awesome man : D Makes me want to go back and play with my bionicles again! Never thought of putting any of mine on DA, but I think I might now. Not that they're as good as this though

Thanks. A lot of people post their MOCs here. But it takes a level of commitment to do this well enough to be decent at it, it requires a certain amount of resources, other wise its just rearranging the sets and no one cares for that.
This my group where you can check out some other cool bionicle MOCs from other people as well.

I've built several since my comment, one of which is two foot tall, my biggest one yet But I'm struggling in taking a photo that doesn't look crappy, have you got any tips for how to get a good picture of one?

Sure. Multiple light sources are good. Directional lights are good, like from adjustable lamps. I need more actually. Shine a light past the subject and then at it to reduce some of the shadows. On your camera, if you know how, turn the ISO down to its lowest setting, that reduces "noise" which I just learned for myself. Turn the quality up to its highest(worth the extra memory it takes up) If you have to use flash because you've got no good light sources, stand back a ways and zoom in on the subject, this reduces the glare of the flash off the pieces. Simple blank backgrounds are your best friend. If you look at all us top MOCers we don't take pics with other crap in the backgrounds, its to distracting and makes the presentation look amateur and like you're not serious about it. We set up a sheet or paper or for the best kind of setting some big like poster board fastened down to the floor, then curved up with no crease to the wall. This gives you a seamless background which is optimal, but not a lot of us have got to the trouble of doing that yet. If you've got a photo editing program use it. Increase the saturation just a little bit to get some of the color back that cameras can suck out(mine does) and sometimes the brightness and contrast, but not too much on those either.

Lego is a fine Medium for art. Its just kinda different. Its not like drawing, painting or sculpting with clay, its got parameters and the trick is to create your vision within those parameters. Thank you. I'm glad you like it.

Jeez. I didn't realize how massive this was until I started looking at the parts! The Toa are screwed!
No, but seriously, this is mind boggling. I used to play around with Bionicles a LOT, and my friends would always comment on how the stuff I made looked so cool. I think I just experienced their feelings x1000. Marvelous, marvelous job.

You're welcome.
I was one of those kids that went after the sets that had interesting or unique parts and ended up with a large variety, but low quantities. I suppose Lego stores and order sites where you can by pieces by bulk must be a godsend to MOCers, eh?

Yeah, they're pretty well screwed.
Thank you. Believe it or not I to know how you feel. There's MOCers out there with insane amounts of resources that build ridiculously huge complex MOCs, ones that'll have like 100 of one piece, or a bunch of parts in one color that are hard to get. I'm definitely not the best. But I do what I can with what I've got. Again, thank you for such a nice compliment.

Me to. I'd get non-bionicle sets for the bionicle parts that were in them. As for bionicle from about 2004-2006 I got two of everything, so that's how I ended up with the bulk of what I've got now. After that I didn't have as much money I could spend on bionicles so I'd get what I could. 2006 was the last year I was able to get all the sets in the series. I iz poor.

Ooooh. I had two of him. That set is wicked useful. We MOCer's can't have enough of those little capes that came with him. Do you still have your parts? What do you do with them if you do?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SVBLE In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2011-08-14 20:37:10 +0000 UTC]
Actually, I used multiple parts from that set for one of my most successful bounty hunter/dark hunter models. The hydraulic-looking pieces were used to make a sturdier set of legs and the cape was actually used as a cloak. Unfortunately, I took that creation apart a while ago. I still have the sniper rifle I created for it, though, which I really like.

That's cool. My bigger MOCs depend on those actuators a lot. It really the only way to make a sturdy MOC with out it looking clunky and bulky. I've got a bunch on Mototaur, and yet he still needs more.

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to SVBLE [2011-08-23 06:26:50 +0000 UTC]
It is. Ryakk is pretty stable but he could be more so. Mechus with Gravix is the most stable cause its basically a figure with another figure for an internal support system. I need to tweak the designs though on that one.

SVBLE In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2011-08-23 17:10:55 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I was looking at him earlier. That must have taken a lot of work.

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to SVBLE [2011-08-23 18:14:47 +0000 UTC]
They all take a lot of work. Mechus was actually the easiest though. Most of what's there was built in about three days. Its the arms and armor I had trouble with and had to keep tweaking, the back got redesigned to but it didn't work out quite like I wanted to so it needs to be re-redone.

I'm a huge Bionicle fan, and I must say that this is the most epic of technic sculptures I've ever seen. Bravo! I suggest you try to make an instruction book for it, I would like to try to make one myself.

Thank you. HA! That's not gonna happen. 1, the instruction book for this would be massive, 2 most people don't have the parts it'd take to build this enough to justify going through all that trouble, and 3 I'm not gonna take him apart and put him back together just for that. It'd take me for ever to do it. Try making a smaller version or something. CHIBI MOTOTAUR WOULD BE SO COOL!

I must say, it's beautiful. And he's huge! I mean, that must have taken days to build. I also enjoy building with Bionicles, and I thought the guy I was making was huge, but he's only as tall as, or even less tall, than one of your guy's leg. Inspirational!

Thank you. I've actually Had Mototaur for 4-5 years now. My MOCs are a constantly evolving work. I don't build a MOC and say "okay its done" and that's it. I keep most of my MOCs together and keep improving on their designs until there where I want them to be. Then sometimes I update them with new parts that have come out since I got them last time. I'm glad you're inspired. I've been told I have that affect on people and it amazes me. I never thought when I joined this site and as I MOCed as a teenager that my work would inspire anyone, let alone people all over the world. Really, thank you for such compliments. ^_^
