Description I was just talking to someone about this, and though this isn't aimed at them, I do see this quite often. Even in a video showing Wave Ocean on PC being played on a fan made engine, someone remarked that it's "06, the non-lazy version". This is a bad case of confusing bad execution with effort and potential, which people actually try to deny because they have to reiterate how bad 06 is. Sorry but actually looking at what could've been, 06 would've been a lot better then many games we've gotten today, and even as is, I'd take it over said games. There's also another argument I forgot, saying they were trying to fit too much into the game, basically blaming the content for the game's short comings, which is bullshit since there are examples of Sonic games without even half of the features that were on and going into 06, and still turned out badly, or at least get bashed(Shadow, Sonic 4 EP1, Sonic Blast, and Sonic Genesis, which came out around the same time as 06 that no one brings up, and it was a damn port.) There's also Sonic Colors with one of thee WORST stories in Sonic history.

That's all I got to say, but I wanted to post this argument I also found on youtube before making this meme, which can be found here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWiPAd…

try no. the game was developed by Sonic Team, not Sega Studio USA (formally Sonic Team USA). Sonic Team is a part of Sega Japan, not Sega USA. It was actually the head of SONIC TEAM JAPAN, Yuji Naka, who announced the game would celebrate Sonic's 15th anniversary, and thus it was he who put the deadline on the game. He followed up this by leaving sonic team, setting them back after putting forth a harsh deadline. However the final nail in Sonic 06's coffin came when Sonic team was given the developer's kit for the Nintendo Wii, and they decided to cut their team in half, so one half could work on 06, which made a harsh deadline nye impossible to meet, and the other half worked on a project for the Wii which would become Sonic and the Secret Rings, which is a not so good game in it's own right.

Check your facts before making wild and baseless claims. because Sonic Team USA were responsible for SA2, which is a good game, Sonic Heroes, which isn't amazing, but it isn't terrible either, Shadow the Hedgehog, which is up to interpretation because gameplay wise it's fine, but story wise it's a whole different story, anyways Shadow the Hedgehog was more or less the last game developed by sonic Steam USA before it was absorbed back into Sonic Team Japan. Sonic Team USA had nothing to do with Sonic 06, and to be frank with you, if Sonic Team Japan hadn't been so full of themselves, and had Sega bring Sonic Team USA in to help on Sonic 06, or at least gave the development of the sonic Wii project to Sonic Team USA so they could focus on the project at hand, Sonic 06 might actually have achieved the greatness it was aiming for. So if you want to blame ANYONE for Sonic 06's failure, it's Sonic Team Japan and Sega Japan's own overzealous pride in themselves, or as I like to put it being full of themselves. There was absolutely no reason Sonic Team Japan had to work on two games at once, they could have easily given one of the two to Sonic Team USA, or at least brought in members of Sonic Team USA to help the heavily short staffed Sonic Team Japan, and maybe have succeeded.

Ehm... Hello? SA2 have gliches too! And this game is fucking overrated, that hurts! x___x
The one and only thing what SA2 has, is Shadow with the first backround story for a Sonic character. not more! -____-

+Blaze the Cat Every game has glitches, it's a fundamental fact of programming that is unavoidable. However, how these glitches affect gameplay is where the difference lies. While SA2 may indeed have glitches, in numerous playthroughs of the game both on the original dreamcast, and the gamecube, I never encountered any game breaking level glitches that ruined my enjoyment of the game. It was a well polished game for it's time, and compared to any number of games released afterwards, it's of a considerably higher grade. so sit there and speak words like 'overrated' is nothing more then your personal opinion. Taken as a game, on gameplay it is more then serviceable. perhaps a tad dated, but nothing to the degree of something like Ghouls and Ghosts for the Nes. on appearance the game is, for a dreamcast title, pretty good. the models are up to snuf for the generation it was released in, animations both in cut scenes and ingame are fine, if a tad stiff at times. the only major bad point about SA2 would be in it's plot, where if you sit down and really analyze it, it kinda falls apart sadly. However, even with the inconsistencies in SA2's plot, it still tells a better story then Sonic 06, and several other modern sonic games. To throw petty hate at a game that is, in all respects, a great game at best, and a decent game at worst is rather sad, especially doing so in defense of a horrible mess like Sonic 06.

Ahem, I've gotten a bit off topic, as have you. pointing out SA2's flaws is a terrible sidestep in trying to avoid the point at hand, that you made a mistake in assuming it was Sega of America that caused Sonic 06 to fail, when Sega of america had next to nothing to do with decisions made by the 'main' branch of Sega in Japan. Try to keep on topic next time.

Sonic 06 had beautiful graphics, new and vibrant designs, a great cast, and a new and engaging plot (that wasn't the same rehashed "Eggman does something stupid to take over the world" plot)... a shame I had to force myself through it because of its broken mechanics . This game is the very definition of lost potential .

Pretty much. 06 is hands down the single Sonic game with the most potential behind it. And that being said, unlike Lost World, it didn't blatantly ignore it. It was just kinda... blind.

I have to applaud you, the gameplay may have been bad, but in terms of story and music, it was pure art. Plus Sonic and Elise are my Sonic OTP

Sonic 06's story is certainly a guilty pleasure of mine. Believe it or not, the guy who wrote SA2 was also involved.

Thank ya. On the gameplay note, I had more fun playing that then even Generations. I agree on the other points, but I'm not into pairing, and Sonic and Elise didn't bother me that much, wasn't that much going on anyway.

Hell that didn't even bother me that much, though I will admit that blending it with original style could've done it better.
