Description
WARNING: HUGE FILEFull of really obvious mistakes. The tail bones are too small, the tail shouldn't be that monotonously muscular, the body is too long, the wings are too small, etc. Yeah, yeah, what ever. I got most of the complicated stuff right.
[EDIT] Fixed the feet and torso as best I could with the Warp tool, and added a watermark.

9. Keel (Sternum or Breastbone specialized for flight)
10. Scapula Ala (Ala=Wing)
11. Humerus Ala
12. Radius Ala
13. Ulna Ala
14. Phalanges
15. Pelvis
16. Femur *Flange for holding large muscles
17. Patella (kneecap)
18. Tibia
19. Fibula
20. Tarsals and Metatarsals
21. Tail "ribs" for supporting muscle (optional)
MUSCULATURE
1. Tympanic Membrane (Ear)
2. Pectoral Flight Muscle (Breast)

4. Cartilage support for trailing edge of wing
5. Over-muscular tail >:I
6. Muscled Tail-tip- moves tail fan, spines, what ever. (optional)
16*-See 16 under SKELETON
None of that is important, but I like labeling anatomy stuff for some reason.
Hope this is helpful, I really just made it 'cause I was bored.

Quite a lot, but still not enough. I intend to upload a much more correct version in the near future.
Thank you, though!

This would be totally awesome if it didn't look like a mammal with birdish sternum. You see, if taken apart, I wouldn't assign the skull, backbone and limbs to a reptile, but without doubt to a mammal. As far as I know, even thouch dragons are made up, they are supposed to be reptiles, which should lead to an obvious direction for finding inspiration in real animals, living or extict. It looks excellent, must have taken a great effort, the worst thing is that it looks like this animal could actually "work", but this particular dragon would be more likely to have fur than scales, unless descending from pangolins or armadillos, and I don't really like that idea.

It's old and full of mistakes, and I am very keenly aware of this.
It is, though, supposed to be mammalian. Take a look at the other dragons in my gallery, and you'd find that most of them are. for the most part, closer to mammals than reptiles. I am not particularly fond of the reptilian body plan and, as dragons are indeed fictitious creatures, I feel that I am not confined to one anatomical structure.

Couple of questions.. where's the front leg deltoid? and why does wing deltoid connect to where front leg tricep should be?

Because I didn't do my homework with this one. As I stated in the description, this is full of mistakes.

This is being hosted by a Deviant called ~DrakkonFestRussya , do they have your direct permission to use your image? If not then I imagine a large number of the other images within the gallery are also used without permission : o

They do have my permission, but I asked them to wait until I had sent them a watermarked copy. I will note them immediately.
Thank you for keeping an eye out! I really appreciate you notifying me.

Its no problem at all! I refused them the use of my own work and recieved a snotty reply so I do not trust this 'festival' or person in any way, shape or form - I'd have hated to see your work used without your permission.

After being refused they replied with this 'It's sad. Hopefully in the future you will become more open to the world.' which I found extremely condisending : o

Sheesh XD I suppose some people can't handle not getting what they want all the time.
If they don't let me watermark my stuff or neglect to reply, I'm going to set my watchers on them. I hate to use anyone like that, but I don't like being ignored. I suppose that's a little hypocritical of me, but hey.

Haha I've just been looking through various anatomy books since I was a young 'un. Not seriously, mind you, but I did enjoy seeing how things connected and moved. At one point I had most of the bones in the body and all the bones in the hand memorized.

I saw the critter submissions for Toria, and unfortunately very few of the contestants knew what they were doing. I would have voted for the tree antelope or the high altitude pretty thing with the long ears, but there was a lack of information.

Pythosart In reply to MichaForrest [2010-11-28 19:09:33 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I noticed that :T some of the better ones design-wise lacked information, but I thought maybe improvements could happen later.
I also with people would try to make things less dragon/wolf-ish when I specifically asked for outlandish designs. This is why the Spineback Swift and Ventosa Elegans are probably my favorites.

MichaForrest In reply to Pythosart [2010-11-29 15:41:25 +0000 UTC]
the swift really is nice. Though it seems that in asking for 'outlandish' designs, many still turned to draconic. X3
