This reminds me of Treasure Planet :0!! I love that movie. You're very good at lighting, which I still have yet to improve on.

As always phenomenal work it reminds me greatly of Hayao Miyazaki's work style from 'Princess Mononoke'. your use of lighting on the monochromatic color really sets off the atmosphere of the image. and even with no other objects in the shot you can get a good feel for the creature's size in comparison the rest of the world.
however your composition still needs a little work you have your little guys in the center of page which is a big composition No, No the rule of thirds is a very solid rule to fallow.

Composition is not my strong point. I'm trying to work on placing the subject in an environment other than white space. It's going pretty slowly...

I really like what you did with the piece. Everything seems filled out and in place. However, its not a bad thing, but adding the lights and a few other stuff may have changed the mood of the picture a tad and might have shifted the focus a bit off from the subjects. Granted, it looks much more realistic and very visually pleasing, and I know that you are probably not gunning for it, but if you were from a concept art point of view, maybe it could detract from the concept...
Hell, who am I to talk. This painting is still probably one of the best I've seen. Oh and them Ferns... theyre about as glorious as ever haha!

Hmm, I can see what you mean. I'm still getting used to working with light. I actually wanted it to seem a little less melancholic and the lighting was added to brighten the mood a little more.
