Description
In the pre-colonization age of Toria when the planet was still young, alien terraforming robots roamed the surface, working to make the planet habitable. The race to whom these robots belonged never claimed their planet, and left the robots to work until their fusion cells died.This particular robot collects sediment from the planet's surface and extracts oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen from it, then pumps it into the atmosphere in a gaseous state. The most common robot, thousands of these would roam a continent at a time.
Specs:
Approx. 15ft (5m) tall
Top Speed: 30mph
Runs on a deuterium-lithium-core fusion cell with auxiliary solar cells (Thanks to ~Mechatherium for the suggestion)
Lifespan: Between two and three thousand years.

This makes me think: What if all insects were robots, just we don't know they are because we grew up with them to be the way they are and we think it's natural. Or what if all living beings were robots, but so high developed that you can't tell anymore...

They're expansions of the first game. There's also Opposing Force, but I haven't played that.

Have you seen any of Andrew Jones' art? Did I mention this guy before?
He was the main concept artist for Retro Studios (they did the Metroid Prime games) and his biomorphic creations are very similar to this amazing painting.

By looking for outside inspiration--books, movies, games, etc.--and then mashing it all up in my head in combination with my own imagination and then drawing it. That's the best I can do as far as description goes XD
