Description Okay, I am ALL KINDS OF JAZZED about the new art contest at ~avpalternative . The theme is Aliens and/or Predators in a fantasy setting. I decided to rumble off in the direction of Greek mythology and do a twist on the Perseus and Andromeda story, with Dark Ages details. So I have a lady-knight in shining armor - my alter ego Chaunn - charging into battle to rescue her current mate, Baku-udrin’de, who has been spiked to a big ol' menhir. (We asked Baku if he minded playing the part of the princess Andromeda, and while he was in a state of shock over that one, we anchored him to the rock and did the makeup job with the glowy green gunk that Hollywood uses to make Predator blood. SOOOOO COOOOL!) And naturally, the Queen Bug gets to play the part of the dragon. The thing is, even though this is a mock-up, see, that Bug's gotta die before it gets to Baku...

This is going to be so much fun!

Very cool, and thank you for the features.

I do intend to finish this drawing one day. The pencil drawing here is more like a very detailed sketch that I will use as a reference for the final drawing.

I like it, the poses are very dynamic, and for a sketch, it's great. But I think that something is wrong with Queen's left wing. It's too short or I shall blame it to perspective xD. You make it out, I'm confused - like this - .

Thanks! Though I think to really give it the "Perseus" feel, I'm going to have to find a way to work the pegasus into the picture. Mayb my lady-knight will be riding him!

The Queen's off-looking wing is partly a matter of perspective and partly a matter of me drawing way too fast to be careful. That's why I decided to do some actual preliminary work before I begin the final drawing. Just this once.

Well now since I'm used to seeing your work in its earliest stage before it blooms into something jaw dropping and extraordinary, I will say that this has potential to be a very deep undertaking. Its simple, if the Predator world exsisted they would Tattoo you with the honor of kickass visionary of their exsistence!!!! You rock girlfriend!

Keen concept... I may have to come up with a symbolic for "kickass visionary" so that ~peanutchan 's character, Caraver, can tattoo it somewhere on my alter-ego's body... Thanks for the compliment and the cool idea! - Though honestly, I can't take credit for being "the" kickass visionary - There are several folks in the ~avpalternative community whose ideas and genre mixing in the Aliens, Predator, Species, Transformers and other universes leaves me dog-paddling in their wake.

Xenos-to-dragons seems like such a natural transition, I'd be surprised if there weren't a whole bunch of us who approach the fantasy setting from that angle. This is only my first idea, though, and I'll probably do significant tweaking as I work on the final drawing. Thanks, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with, too!
