... last month, a group of senior deviants and myself decided to present a community deviation (better known as a commDev) to all of deviantART, as a gesture of expression, gratitude, and as a kind of birthday present to everyone for this site's 3rd birthday... 18 seniors answered the call to create something based on the theme "what deviantART means to me" and their works have been assembled in this Flash slideshow...... apologies to those that have been eager for this compilation piece to come out... August has been a very active month for me, more so than I ever anticipated, and things such as free time and Flash authoring had to take a backseat to a series of real-life responsibilities I simply couldn't neglect... in the early part of August, I had originally put all 18 submissions in a devpack and had written a player to be referenced to it... when the devpacks weren't released with the unveiling of dAv3, I took it upon myself to start the project over from scratch with the contributions included within the player, and this is the result...

... I opened it up after all these months of forgetting I had it, and for some reason the preloader is all messed up now, it wants to expand the entire page, not just the loader stripe...

This says very well what I think deviantArt means to all of us. The growth of art right here on the site is stunning. I know personaly this leaf has blossomed thanks the all the beauty I have experienced by way of DTFs, recent submissions, DDs, and gallery browsing. When you are alone as an artist trying to find what you can do with the skills you have, its communites like this one that can guide us all the greatness.
Amazing work, all of you. Its obvious how much the community means to you, and why you are senior members.

1024x768 is a too big size, I'm actualy on 1280x1024, it's cool.
Don't forget that much pple are still in 1024x768.
They cannot watch that animation in full screen.
They're browser have toolbars & scroll bars.
anyway, that was just a little critic without importance.
The result is simply awesome. The preloader is great & very original.
Navigation is basicaly Great & Artwork collection is simply amazing.
Funny, Well designed, classic & modern. That's an incredible sample
of talented pple.

The end result is excellent. Top notch presentation and the auto-resizing is a great touch (although it looks weird on my entry, but that can't be helped).

as with all flash submissions right now- you must download this- and then open it in your browser. just checked it to make sure- and it works fine.

nice compiling rapido, also, great job on that opening splash/ history lesson, maybe some of these young'ns will learn something 
My favorite has to be imike's though... The theme from cheers fits so well with dA. exor's is also amazing, with the tree comparison, and the wraparound poem[?] that just goes on and on... kalimon's art gallery is sweet, diny's piece, bakerstreet's, musicinmyhead's, iti's, liq's, exorist's, fuzzeh's, tempest's, der-das's, sycho's, adam's, leo's, mulder's, & lol's are all perfect additions... Maybe next time I'll be a senior member and be able to participate too

Very very cool, I like it a lot. Good use of flash to convey the information, and a nice size too, not to large as much flash is these days.
