I wanted to do a quick rundown on how I do figure drawing since I was asked a few times. I'll do something on video for males soon enough, but this is basically how I break down the figure. The problem with "teaching" figure drawing (and I don't even claim to be very good at it) is that the artist needs to "feel" where things go, they need to already know the basic shapes of something to be able to flesh out a set of construction lines. Construction lines are only there to set proportion and to give you an idea of where you're placing limbs/body for posing. The same thing applies to hands/feet etc. I can show you breakdowns but they will make very little sense unless you generally know your way around a figure anyway.

My advice is to try and make stick figures in as many poses as you can, try to include the egg shape for a rib cage and a circle for the pelvis and sticks for arms and legs and just draw them over and over and over again.
