Description Just as the Empire saw a need for a faster more heavily armed TIE Interceptor, so too the First Order has seen the need to make a TIE variant that is dedicated to the role of an interceptor.  Equipped with massive engines, a socket for an astromech, shields, hyperdrive, and a dazzling array of weaponry, some variants of the TIE/sfi (Special Forces Interceptor) are even equipped with a retractable lower turret, similar to that of the TIE/sf variant.  But while the firing arc of the turret on the TIE/sf is severely limited due to the placement of its wings, the advanced wing geometry of the TIE/sfi allows its turret to achieve a true 360 firing arc.  (Note:  The turret is retracted in the view above.)

DUDE! Your designs are epic! Have you done any SWTOR ships?

This is my own personal design.  If I could have any TIE fighter, this is the one that I would have!  Excellent visibility, plenty of engine power, aft guns, an astromech droid, and tons of firepower!  Plus, it looks fast and aggressive standing still!

Thanks so much for the very nice comment!  No, I haven't created any ships from SWTOR, . . . at least not yet.

This kind of tie almost reminds me of the Old republic sith empire tie fighters

Yes, there is a definite similarity.  Oddly, I wasn't even aware of the Sith fighter when I designed this, but I like the idea that it (inadvertently) hearkens back to an older Sith design.

Thats actually fantastic! Very beautiful and clever design — much better then a lot of machines that appeared recently in Disney movies. I would like to see this in future episodes, or at least in X-Wing miniature game in future. If You didn`t send this piece of awesomeness to Lucasarts or FFG already, You definitely should

Tie kind reminds me of the sith fighters from kotor but better designed, I isn't some ties were designed like this. Or least upgraded to this design.

I wasn't aware of that Sith ship when I designed the TIE/sfi, but there certainly are similarities.  Hey, thanks so much for your nice comments.  Your art is beautiful by the way.  You're very talented!

Still like this design over the tif fighter, if they ever did overhauls of galatic empire and updated a lot the technology I think think this design would be perfect. I wonder what walkers would look like if deign was more up to date. Seeing as the original while well armored was slow and very vulnerable.

Have you see the new AT-M6 walker from the new movie "Episode 8 - The Last Jedi?"  I didn't love the movie, but the new Walker design is pretty cool.  AT-M6 Walker - Prime Weapon   What do you think of it?

See the walker still has no defensive capabilities other than armor and shielding

We seem to share a preference for astromech-equipped starfighters. So much more useful to have an in-flight mechanic and (if you need to land), fairly capable slicer on board, than a glorified SatNav. Not to mention that it gives you someone to talk to on long flights.

What I find interesting about both this and the Criterion-class Star Destroyer design is that it's not a *direct* descendant of the Empire's technology. What you seem to have done instead is to gone back to a common ancestor (the Eta-2, in this case), and then "aged" the technology in a different direction. You can see the Eta-2 ancestry of this ship (visible engine exhausts, astromech-equipped), but also the advanced TIE solar panels that developed after the fall of the Republic. A trifle ironically, given that this is a First Order ship, I think that this is what the Jedi Interceptor would have evolved into, if the Jedi had succeeded and the Republic hadn't fallen.

Anyway, it's another beautiful piece of design

Wow!  Another great bunch of insightful comments!  Well, y'know sometimes older designs (like the Eta-2) deserve a second look.  Plus, I just love the idea of a TIE fighter with whopping HUGE engines.  I think this baby would really cook!  And yeah, I'm with you.  I never go anywhere without my trusty astromech.  Hey, thanks again for taking the time to leave a nice comment!

Reminds me of the Supremacy-class Starfighter used by the Sith Empire from SWTOR, I hope this becomes official somehow, would be an awesome addition to the TIE family.

I've never seen (or heard of) the Supremacy-class Starfighter before, but yes, looking at it now, I can see the similarity.  Still, . . . I do like my design quite a bit better.  Thanks so much for your comment!  It would be an awesome addition to the official TIE family.

The more I look at this ship, I keep thinking of The Old Republic.  From the top view, it does have the Old Republic star fighter.
