Description The Archangels are technically the lowest rung on the heirarchy of angels, but this has nothing to do with their power or influence. The archangels are the fifteen selected from the best of the best, given the most responsibilities and are the leaders among their specific charges. They were chosen because they had the emotional strength and willpower to lead instead of follow and have the guts to express free will in front of God Himself. In fact, several of them have fallen at some point, later to regain their status and for some, even more responsibilties. But I'll cover that as we get to them. Without further delay, here are the fifteen archangels.

Ariel: Also called Uriel while in her masculine form, Ariel is effeminite in either. She has long silver hair, violet eyes, black, irridescent wings and wears the full spectrum of the rainbow. She is short compared to some of the others, and she is somewhat dark and mysterious which is odd. While she is very beautiful in both her forms, she can also be very intimidating as well.
Her chief charge is as the archangel of repentance. Her other charges include magick, alchemy, astrology and mysticism, as well as devotion, enlightenment, insight, divine order, power distribution, judgement and vengeance. Her name literally means "Fire of God."
While her chief role is seeing over repentance, her secondary charge is teaching devotion. She teaches devotion in two forms: the devotion of true love and the devotion to the Spirit. Without the latter, any spiritual study is but intellectual pursuit without true reward. One of her symbols is that of an open hand presenting a flame. This symbolizes the gift of love for God to Humans, and is why she's called the "Fire of God." This also makes me wonder if she had anything to do with Pentecost that may have been deleted from the Bible along with many of her other undertakingss.
Speaking of Ariel's apocryphal works, there is but I believe one mention of her name - her male name even - in the Bible itself and even that is in passing. Ariel was responsible for several important moments in biblical history. She was there to help bury Abel in the Garden of Eden, and also stood outside the gate with a fiery sword to guard it after Adam and Eve's expulsion. It is unknown whether it was her or Gabriel that wrestled with Jacob in the corporeal form of a man, but it was one of the two. Ariel was the destroyer of Sennacherib, and was the angel who led Abraham out of Egypt, I believe, as the giant pillar of smoke. Most important of Ariel's accomplishments however, is that she is responsible in a large part of man's continued existence after Genesis. When God had finally decided that creating humans had been a bad idea - "I regret having made them" - said the Lord, and had decided to wipe out the entire race with the Great Flood, it was Ariel who pointed out Noah and his family and suggested God start over with them as a clean slate. It is very unfortunate that somewhere along the line some human decided to delete that from the canonical bible because without that information the whole story is changed. Had it not been for Ariel, God would have wiped mankind out millenia ago, proven Lucifer and the fallen from the angels' rebellion right, and thus they would have been redeemed. Instead, humanity lived to blow it again until God sent Jesus to die for their sins, then they lived on to forget Jesus and further delve into depravity until the final apocalypse hits - hopefully sometime soon.
Ariel is the Guardian of the North, and her favorite colors are violet, white, blue, silver, and the spectrum of the rainbow.

Azrael: Azrael is the archangel of death and high leader of all reapers from every culture. Azrael is oft depicted as a skeletal figure cloaked in black weilding a scythe, sword or fiery rod. That is simply the canonical way of depicting the angel so people know who it is being depicted, however. Azrael actually changes form based on the beliefs, and needs of the individual she is dealing with. She'll usually take a form the human is comfortable with, or whatever their preconceived notion of the angel of death is if they have one. Also, if the human was an evil soul, Azrael will sometimes take on whatever form will scare the crap out of them to reflect the corruption of their lives back at them. For the most part though, meeting her is a pleasant experience so long as you weren't too much of a sadistic asshole. There's an Islamic line that says that "when the soul sees Azrael, it 'falls in love', and thus is withdrawn from the body as if by seduction." I could certainly see that.
I had the honor of meeting Azrael in person once. I won't go into the details of why, aside from that I was suicidal at the time. When she came, I felt her behind me before I saw her. I felt her arms wrap around me and she whispered into my ear the words "not yet." When I saw her, I was wonderstruck by her beauty. I had been expecting a male spirit, but she was an epitome of feminine beauty before me. She had alabaster skin, crystal blue eyes and shoulder length burgundy hair. She wore the black hooded cloak, but wore a burgundy wine colored gown underneath it. Being in her presence was a feeling so sublime I'll never forget it. Because of the circumstances in which I met her, she ended up saving my life instead of taking it; a small adventure I'll not explain here on account of its personal nature. Back to the basics on her.
Her charges: obviously death is her number one charge. She's leader of all angels of death from all cultures as well as the high leader of all lesser reapers. She keeps a registry of the names of all human souls recording their births and erasing their names after their deaths. In her registry she keeps track of the saved and the damned by marking the saved in light and the condemned in black. It is said that a leaf with a person's name on it will fall from a tree beneath God's throne and after forty days, Azrael will find them and take their soul from their body. Azrael's secondary charge is of reincarnation. There's an interesting story behind that.
I'll start by explaining how Azrael got the job as archangel of death in the first place. When God decided to create man, He sent four angels - Michael, Gabriel, Israfel and Azrael - to gather seven handfuls of just the right earth with which to create the first human. The other three couldn't do it, but Azrael was successful and so, because she played a large part in the birth of the first man, Azrael was appointed to be the one to separate man's soul from his body at the time of death. Now, Azrael is good at her job, but being the right sort to be an archangel meant that she had a special kind of insight and she felt sympathy for the humans that were condemned. She didn't feel that any being should be condemned for eternity based on the actions of one short lifetime. Feeling a strong sense of wrongness in this permanent condemnation, Azrael began to sneak into Hell to minister to lost souls and when she felt they were truly ready for a second chance, she had them reincarnated. When God found out, he was less than pleased that Azrael had gone behind his back to do this, and dismissed her from her position during which time she was fallen. Another angel did take her place during this time, and unfortunately I don't remember his name and I've since lost that research, but he doesn't really matter here. The point is that God thought about Azrael's actions and motivations and eventually decided that what she was proposing wasn't a bad idea. He had her reinstated as archangel of death, and added to her responsibilities the ministering of condemned souls to find those worthy and ready for another shot at Heaven through reincarnation. This set up the whole system of reincarnation that also involves Gabriel and Sandalphon. I'll explain their roles when I get to their entries.
Azrael's favorite colors are black, red, burgundy and gold and she has an affinity for roses as well.

Camael: Camael , whose name means "He Who Sees God," has many other names as well, including Chamuel, Shemuel, Cancel, Jahoel, and the more feminine Camniel and Seraphiel. He is the archangel of war. He has green wings and black hair. He wears green plate armor, an iron helmet and a red tunic. Aside from presiding over war, he is the archangels' personification of justice and he can grant power, invisibility and invincibility. Camael also presides over singing, divine love, power in relationships, self discipline and karma. He can teach humans how to purify themselves to make up for bad karma and he can also act as a judge and reap justice on one's behalf if he feels they are honest.
Some of the things Camael is famous for include the imprisonment of Leviathan until Apocalypse, and being one of the angels along with Gabriel who helped strengthen and comfort Jesus during his persecution.
Camael is ranked as a Chief in the Order of Powers and is one of the Sephiroth. He is a Gatekeeper of Heaven and Chief of the Angels of Destruction. He is also among the rulers of the planets; his being Mars, which is interesting since the Roman god of war goes by that name. I'm curious as to whether there's a relation between Camael and Ares.

Cassiel: Cassiel is the archangel of genius. He is a red headed, bearded dragoon with black wings who usually wears a maroon cloak. Because of his affinity for dragons, Cassiel has dragonic wings as opposed to avian. As I stated, he is the archangel presiding over genius, as well as memory and learning in general. He is an angel of solitude, tears and temperance.
Cassiel is ranked as a Prince of the Seventh Heaven, is one of the Sarim, and is a member of the Order of Powers. He is also one of the rulers of the planets; his being Saturn. As I mentioned before, Cassiel is a dragoon; he loves dragons and not only rides them, but takes care of many of the dragons in Heaven.

Gabriel: Gabriel is one of the two highest ranked angels in existence. She changes regularly between male and female forms, depending on whom she is around. Most angels who do this are somewhat androgynous in both forms, with few differences between them. Gabriel is different in that her male and female forms differ greatly. In both forms Gabriel has blonde hair and blue eyes, and in both she's got a crescent marking on her forehead symbolizing the moon. As a female her hair is very long and her features very soft. She is quite feminine in every aspect. However, in male form, she has short hair swept back, sharp features and a very masculine build.
She is the chief angel in God's presence who acts as a middleman. As such, she is the archangel of communication, annunciation, revelation, mercy, truth and hope. Being of such a high rank also brings more responsibility than usual, so she is also in charge of resurrection, birth, death, reincarnation and vengeance. She is an angel of the moon, psychic gifts, intuition, magick, clairvoyance, scrying, astral projection, menstruation, and the effiminate qualities in men - for those of you doubting me that Gabriel had a female side.
Gabriel is also one of the most well documented of any angel, and is one of the few the Catholics actually left in the Bible. Gabriel's first appearance is in Daniel 9, in which she bestows upon him the prophecy of the seventy weeks. She was also the angel who announced to Zechariah the birth of John the Baptist in Luke 1. However, Gabriel is most famous for performing the annunciation to Mary that she was going to bear the Son of God who would eventually sacrifice himself for the sake of humanity.
Among her lesser known feats are that she was the angel who buried Moses, and was possibly the angel who wrestled with Jacob (the other possible candidate for this being Ariel). She was involved in the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, and is prophecied to be the angel who blows the horn announcing the second coming of Jesus.
Another one of the little known facts is that Gabriel is one of the archangels who temporarily fell from grace. As with Azrael, her crime was for standing up for what she believed to be the compassionate, right position. When God ordered the genocide of the nephilim, (the children of the grigori who mated with humans and became some of the heroes of legend), the task was originally assigned to Gabriel. She refused, probably because she is an angel prisiding over birth and the only crime the nephilim were being punished for was simply for existing. Consequently, Gabriel was dismissed from her position and an angel named Dobiel was appointed in her place. However, Gabriel eventually won back her status as archangel and Dobiel was reassigned elsewhere.
I do have mixed feelings about Gabriel though, and this is why. As an angel of both birth and reincarnation, she is the chief angel who selects souls to be born or reborn unto Earth and spends the nine months of incubation informing new souls of what they need to know and then silencing them before birth (that is, putting these memories into the subconscious) by pressing her finger to their lips. This is what creates a human's cleft between their nose and lips. Along with that information for new souls, however, she, as archangel of reincarnation, also locks away the memories of past lives into the subconscious - and for the repentant fallen and demons who are born to human bodies she locks their angelic/demonic powers away as well. While I can understand keeping an angel or demon's former abilities subdued during their penance on Earth, locking away the memories is not fair, and can be torturous when some of those memories surface as a tease and downright frustrating once you realize they're there yet just out of reach of being lucid. I once likened trying to clearly remember one's past life to attempting to piece together a billion-piece jigsaw puzzle when you're missing half the pieces. So for standing up for the nephilim, I give her props; for mentally crippling the repentant fallen, I am less than pleased.
Gabriel is one of the guardians of the cardinal directions; hers being the West. She is a water elemental, and her favorite colors are white, silver, rose, blue and red. She loves lilies and moonstones, and is sometimes symbolized by a trumpet.

Haniel: Haniel is the archangel of love and harmony. Haniel is predominantly female. She has red hair, green eyes and gray wings. Her favorite color is green, which she often dresses in, and she usually carries a lantern around with her wherever she goes. Like the counterpart to the fallen angel, Gremory, she is a matchmaker responsible for bringing together friends and lovers.
Of course, as with the rest of the archangels, her responsibilities are far greater than simply that; Haniel also presides over peace, beauty, grace and all things considered to be pleasant. She is also an angel to call on when help is needed regarding common sense or artistic matters. And of course, Haniel is the one to seek out when needing assistance when it comes to matters of the heart.
She is an angel of Capricorn and is one of the rulers of the planets, hers being Venus, appropriately.

Israfel: Israfel is the archangel of song. He has shoulder-length dark hair, fiery wings and plays a lyre. He is a singer with the sweetest voice in all creation and he sings hymns in every language under God. His name means literally, "Burning One," and he is a patron of entertainers, especially musicians. Israfel is like Heaven's counterpart to the fallen angel Amduscias.
Israfel keeps watch over Hell, looking into it six times a day. It troubles the sensitive angel to the point of tears to see the suffering of the condemned souls trapped there; both angel and human. On a historical note, Israfel, along with Michael and Gabriel are the three angels who warned Abraham of the coming destruction of Gomorrah. And it is said that near the beginning of apocalypse, Israfel will descend to Earth and blow the trumpet that will awaken and resurrect the dead, bringing about all the spirits that ever existed to come to their final judgement.
As I mentioned above, Israfel is very sensitive and empathic. It is this quality that made him an archangel, but it is also his torment. He suffers because of humankind, both because of their misdeeds and persecution of others, and for the punishment that befalls the very persecutors and perpetrators that caused the pain of others in the first place. Israfel wants, I believe, more than any other angel to believe that humanity wasn't a mistake. Before the angels' rebellion, Israfel and Amduscias were friends. When the divide was made between Lucifer's and God's angels, Amduscias chose Lucifer's side, while Israfel held firmly to his belief in the good in mankind. Amduscias may have been cast into Hell for siding with Lucifer against humanity, but I think Israfel suffers more than Duke does for having to see the very beings he stood up for continually being self destructive and generally a malignant cancer upon the Earth. He longs for a peace among mankind that will never come. For this, I feel sorry for Israfel. He's a good angel, one of the best in fact, that doesn't deserve to feel so much pain every day of his existence.

Jophiel: Also called Iophiel and Zophiel, she is the archangel of art and beauty. Jophiel is predominantly female, but will occasionally put on a male form as well. She looks similar in both, with long blonde hair, gray eyes, and very feminine features even in male form. Her name literally means "Beauty of God."
While her main charges are over art and aesthetic beauty, she is also an angel of radiation and illumination, teaching humans the power of the light within, and helping humans overcome materialism and aspire towards spiritual gain. Jophiel helps in learning and studying and attempts to do away with ignorance, pride and closed-mindedness. Jophiel despises corruption and greed, especially in governments and corporations, and, as is the case with many angels both fallen and not, she mourns what humans have done to the planet. As such, she's taken it upon herself to help fight pollution and bring beauty back upon the Earth.
Historically, Jophiel is the angel who physically expelled Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, while Ariel guarded the gate afterwards. Jophiel also helps guard the Tree of Life from humankind until the coming of the New Jerusalem after the apocalypse when the Trees of Life and Wisdom will be open to the saved. On a side note, Jophiel is a close friend of Metatron.
Jophiel is a cherub and is in fact, one of their chiefs. She is also accredited to be the Angel of Paradise and is the patron angel of artists and is a ruling princess of the Order of Thrones. Jophiel is a very good angel with high hopes and determination. Because of her role as a patron of artists, along with her ambitions to fight government corruption and corporate greed, as well as a patron of environmentalists, I have personally dubbed Jophiel the "Hippie Angel".

Metatron: Metatron is the archangel of light. He is Sandalphon's twin brother and as such, is one of the two tallest angels in Heaven. Metatron is cloaked in white light and has short, shaggy, sandy brown hair and blue-gray eyes. His symbol is a scroll, and he does in fact enjoy writing. Aside from being an angel of light, Metatron is a spirit guide and can help in finding a good teacher or mentor in spiritual subject matter. He is also an archangel of death, along with Azrael and Gabriel, and his role in that triangle is as a teacher and caretaker for children who've died prematurely.
On an interesting note, Metatron is one of the archangels who fell for reasons unknown to myself, and did time on Earth. During this time that he spent in the human husk called Enoch, he wrote his famous book about the second fall of the angels led by the grigori, Azazel.
Metatron is called the Chancellor of Heaven and the King of the Angels.

Michael: Michael, the archangel of justice, is perhaps the most famous of angels along with his archenemy, Lucifer. Michael is somewhat difficult to write about. He is a warrior angel and is oft depicted wielding a sword and shield and wearing gold plate mail and a kilt. He has spiky blonde hair, blue eyes and emerald wings. He is sometimes shown holding a set of scales to symbolize justice, which is also a symbol for Michael himself. His name means "Who is Like to God?" and interestingly, this was the battlecry of God's angels during the angels' rebellion. Michael was the high leader of all of God's angels during this battle (which is also, and more often called, the War in Heaven), and Michael will be high leader once again in the battle at apocalypse. He personally battled Lucifer in the angels' rebellion and is prophecied to defeat him again in the final battle. Because of this, Michael is often depicted fighting a dragon with sword in hand.
Besides being an angel of justice, Michael is the highest ranking angel in Heaven, and as such, has many responsibilities. He is the Guardian of Israel, and is an angel of sanctification, protection, patience, courage, ambition, achievement, and motivation. He is a patron of the police and soldiers. God also granted Michael power over nature and as such he has powers over rain, snow, wind, thunder and lightning. While not omnipresent, Michael is believed to be able to see everything in all the realms.
One of the few angels still mentioned in the Bible since the Catholics removed the majority of angelic references during the 7th century A.D., there are still some things that Michael is not given credit for where credit is due. One such act is that Michael is the angel who took the form of the burning bush that spoke to Moses. He is actually cited as being the angel who guards the tomb of Moses and who argued with Lucifer over Moses's body because Lucifer wanted humans to know the whereabouts of the corpse to see whether or not they would make him into a false idol. Michael also guards Eve's tomb, and created a healing spring in Chairoto that would heal whoever bathed in it and evoked the help of him along with the Holy Trinity. He guards the Nile along with Israel, the former of which Christian Egyptians have a feast for in the 12th of June.
Michael is one of the chief princes, and high leader of God's warrior angels. He is called the Prince of the Seraphim, and is the Guardian of the South and an earth elemental. His preferred colors are orange, violet, white, gold and brown.

Raguel: Also called Rasuil, Rufael, Suryan and Akrasiel, Raguel is the archangel of judgement. He has long, shaggy brown hair, cold blue-gray eyes and wings made of ice. Acting as a judge of other angels, Raguel watches their behavior and writes down their deeds and misdeeds in a book that he carries with him. He is personally responsible for bringing to account those angels who should fall from grace.
He comes off as being very cold and stoic, and his job is a particularly hard one. He understandably makes enemies by calling angels to account and having them fall to Earth or Hell, but neither is he appreciated by the victims of rogue angels as he cannot interfere with the goings on, but instead simply takes record of it. For that, he is sometimes hated by those who are wronged by others and see him as an insensitive bystander who could have helped and didn't. When judgement day occurs, it will not be only human souls who will account for the deeds during their existence, but the angels as well, and Raguel will be the one to deal with the latter. From what I've learned, there is increasing chaos among Heaven's angels, so Raguel is apt to have his work cut out for him. Aside from his role as angelic cop and judge, Raguel is also an angel of ice and snow.
Raguel is one of the seven archangels named in the writings of Enoch (who was the avatar of Metatron). He is an angel of Earth and a Guardian of the Second Heaven. Raguel is also of the Order of Principalities.

Raphael: Raphael is the archangel of healing. One of my personal favorites, his name means "God had Healed" and he takes care of the wounded and heals the Earth. He has an asian appearance, being the Guardian of the East, and has long black hair, brown eyes and black wings. He wears a broad brimmed hat, winged sandals and carries the Caduceas, a staff entwined by two serpents that the american symbol of medicine is based off of. The Caduceus was also carried by Hermes and Aesclepius. As the chief angel of healing, he is a patron angel of doctors and nurses.
Aside from being an angel of healing and medicine, Raphael is a protector of children and travelers, and is the patron angel of the latter. He is an angel of the evening winds, springtime and rebirth. He is also a warrior, a bard, a messenger, and a guide to Sheol. As messenger, his fallen counterpart is Seere. He is also an angel of prayer, love, joy, science, knowledge, and providence.
Raphael is one of the most documented angels, and his first appearance is as a guide to Tobiah while he was traveling to Rages in Medes to collect a debt for his father. Raphael also helped Tobiah get a woman, and in doing so killed two birds with one stone because this woman was being plagued by a particularly nasty fallen angel. Her name was Sarah, and she was the victim of the fallen angel Asmodeus, who had fallen in love with her and would consequently slay all of her suitors. For more details of that story, see Asmodeus's entry in my Fallen Angels - Goetia section. To make a long story short, Raphael helped them drive Asmodeus into the desert where the archangel was waiting to kick his ass and bind him there until apocalypse. On top of all this, Raphael also healed Tobiah's father of blindness.
Acting as God's muscle once again, Raphael was the angel who dealt with the grigori Azazel; an evil angel living in Egypt teaching humans sorcery and how to create weapons. Azazel had attempted to teach humans magick that would end up destroying the world, so Raphael kicked his ass and bound him in Egypt along with Asmodeus.
Raphael is one of the three angels who visited Abraham after his circumcision. He played the part of messenger on two noteworthy accounts: the first is still in the Bible though he's not given due credit for it. Raphael is the angel who personally delivered to Noah the instructions Raziel created for building the Ark before the Great Flood. Raphael was also the angel who delivered the magick ring to Solomon that let him control the seventy-two fallen angels of the Goetia in order to build his temple.
Raphael is one of the only four angels still left in the Bible after the Catholics stripped away their credit and most references to their names in the 7th century A.D. Raphael is one of the seven chief angels, and is one of the four present at God's throne. He's ranked as Regent of the Sun, a chief of the Order of Virtues and is one of the rulers of the planets, his being Mercury (which is interesting indeed considering his many similarities to the Greek Hermes). As I mentioned above, he is Guardian of the East and is a fire elemental. His favorite colors are yellow, white, gray, and black.

Raziel: Raziel is the archangel of mysteries. Raziel takes both male and female forms, but is predominantly feminine. She has short brown hair, gray eyes, and sky blue wings. She also has a golden aura and is cloaked in a swirling gray material that appears to be made of a viscous liquid. Her name means literally, "Secret of God" and she's near omniscient because she stands at the edge of the border separating God's throne from the rest of creation and writes down all that she sees and hears. Raziel is the author of the legendary Book of the Angel Raziel that contains the 1,500 keys to all the mysteries of the universe both earthly and celestial. However, her book - the true book - is written in a language only she and God can understand and not even the greatest of angels can decipher.
As archangel of mysteries, Raziel possesses all knowledge of the secret and arcane. She is knowledgeable in the mystical arts, and holds all the answers to anything regarding the occult. She is an excellent teacher of legitimate magicks and can give one an understanding of energy currents and how to manipulate them for specific results.
Historically, Raziel was a special patron of the first human, Adam. Feeling sorry for him after his expulsion from Eden, Raziel gave Adam her book and apparently taught him how to read it so that he could better understand God and His motivations. Some other angels were angry at this and took Raziel's book from Adam and cast it into the ocean. God didn't punish Raziel, however. To the contrary, He saved the book and returned it to Adam. The Book of the Angel Raziel later passed to Enoch, the human incarnation of Metatron. Raziel is also one of the triangle of angels responsible for saving Noah from the Great Flood. After Ariel convinced God to spare Noah and his family, Raziel designed the Ark and had Raphael deliver the plans to Noah.
Raziel is a cherubim and a guardian of originality. Her favorite colors are blue, gray, black, white, and cool tones in general.

Sandalphon: Sandalphon is the archangel of darkness. He is Metatron's twin brother and as such is one of the two tallest angels in Heaven. He has short sandy brown hair and blue-gray eyes like his brother, but prefers darker colors. Sandy is cloaked in a pitch black garment of pure energy that produces violet sparks of electricity. Along with Israfel, Sandalphon is a master of song, but that is not one of his primary roles. He has two main jobs; one of which is to be a spirit guide. That being the case, Sandy's the one to call on when one needs help regarding spiritual warfare or getting back on the right spiritual path (or even simply choosing a path to begin with).
Sandalphon's other primary job has him playing a major role as one of the angels of birth: he is directly involved in deciding and developing an embryo's gender. Therefore, if a couple specifically wants to have a son or a daughter, Sandy's the one to ask for assistance. Keep in mind, however, that sometimes (in fact, most of the time), a child is meant to be a certain gender and no amount of praying will change that. If an unborn child's gender is tampered with with somehow without God's consent (be it through science or magick), the parents had better expect some identity disorders for their child down the road because while a physical husk is but a vessel that can be changed, the soul is not and it will be what it was meant to be.
Sandalphon is a laid-back goth boy, and his favorite colors are black, red and violet.

Zadkiel: Zadkiel is the archangel of mercy. He has shoulder-length brown hair, blue eyes and brown wings and wears a cloak of gold with brown trim and wields a dagger. Aside from being the chief angel of mercy, Zadkiel is also an angel of freedom, forgiveness and benevolence. He is the patron angel of those who can forgive their enemies.
Zadkiel is another angel whose actions can be found in the bible although the credit due to him is absent. When Abraham took his long-awaited son, Isaac, to the mountain to sacrifice him for God, it was Zadkiel who was sent to stop his hand at the last moment. Zadkiel kept Abraham's dagger from that time and has carried it with him ever since. Zadkiel is also one of the angels who follows Michael into battle, which is surprising given his other roles. Zadkiel is a very good and righteous angel, and is one of the kindest along with Israfel.

I need to look at your Fallen list, but if it's not there yet, some of my experience of what I felt when Kokabiel attacked:

Soothing at first, then burning, leaving scars.

Twice in a row, same result.

My old fallen research is on here, but again I need to update a bunch of it. I also have some research on the Norse pantheon as well.

Your descriptions are helpful, especially when I compare the sections of Michael, and Raphael, hard to tell which Jason is.  Always more 'forceful' with him.

Thanks. I probably need to update this file since it's like a decade old and I've learned some new things since then to add, but I still go back to this from time to time as a resource myself.  I personally tend to focus more study on the fallen angels, but Raphael (and Ariel, Azrael, Israfel and Haniel) are some of my favorite celestials. Raphael is an absolute badass in a way that's less terrifying than Michael. If I ever had to fight either one I'd just be like, "Well...fuck". But I'd feel like I could reason more with Raphael. If that helps.

If I remember rightly, the copy of the Book of Enoch I had implied that Raphael was once Abel.  Idk where that thing is now, shame.  But in my experience Raphael has this habit of leaving cryptic messages, and being there one second, and not the next.  Gets annoying after a while.

I hadn't heard that about Abel, but that would be interesting. Wouldn't be the only time an archangel's taken a human form; Metatron was Enoch himself, so I guess he'd know.

It never came right out and told you.  You had to do some serious thinking to see it.  Wasn't weakly implied either.  Like I said, serious thinking.  Such sexy throbbs for muh brain B|

As to my knowledge, aside from God, there's generally considered 'two' Metatron's, Michael and Jesus, discounting the weird belief that Michael is Jesus.  Weird, as in, due to the Eternal Promise, that conflicts.

But when it comes to discerning Metatron, Saint Mikhael is generally seen as 'Lesser YHVH'
Literal second in command, which, again, is a conflict, since the Son of God fills that role.  It may, however, mean that Mikhael does indeed fill the second in command role, but not towards the potency of God, moreso to the day to day affairs, like a secretary.  Which appears more accurate, as he is the High Scribe, and the General of Heaven.  It's quite likely that he is God's Secretary.

However, despite that, there seem to be various archangels whom all basically share in the role.  Azrael holds up the paranormal investigation center with the Archives, Mikhael keeps it written directly for Heaven, Raphael gets around, Samael flits between factions just as badly as Azrael seems to.  All the Archangel's appear to basically be the Magistrate of Creation.  Constantly overseeing and making sure that things go as needed and certain things happen.

It's all very confusing.  I can just imagine paper's flying around and having the atmosphere of an overactive, eternally busy office building.

Very interesting descriptions of the Archangels. I'm writing a book about demi-angels (half-angels), so I'm researching as much about them as I can. It's interesting how you view most archangels as female, while for some all (except Ariel, if they care to include her) are male. You should know that Michael's element is actually fire (not earth; that's Uriel's), and his feminine counterpart is Brigit. I  don't believe that angels have any concept whatsoever about what it would mean to "fall" from grace. They just don't think that way.

I think your descriptions of what they look like to you are pretty cool. I tend to visualize them differently (for instance, to me Azrael is male with long black hair and big, fluffy, stormy gray wings that are perfect to be wrapped up in when you're grieving), but that makes sense seeing as everyone pictures angels differently.

Hi, this is good information, and good quality, but you are missing two Archangels, Lucifer, who is technically fallen, but is returning to Heaven, and is quite misunderstood, and Katrina, Micheal's twin sister, who is the angel of purity and innocence. I just thought I should let you know, sorry if it seems I am trying to correct you or anything, it wasn't my intention

Thank you for posting this.I had been doubting my faith lately, and this really helps me.

Its nice to know that Angels have personality and problems just like we humans do.

Also, since I have been fearing Death for some reason, its nice to know that the angel of death is not some cruel heartless creature.

I could be wrong, though it'd take meeting both personally to make me believe they weren't. Some angels simply have more than one name, like Naphula/Vapula or Camio/Caim, Vual/Uvall etc. The information is from many sources; I've been studying angels and demons for over 15 years now so I can't really place it to one or two books/websites.

Uriel and Ariel are the male and female forms of the same exact energy. Another example is Michael and Brigit.

You are well schooled.
Angels are made of light, but have preferred forms, and an angels name the way people think about names is their unique vibration. Though you are firm and correct in calling them any of the various names that they have been given over the course of experience. That is all my own personal truth of course.
My point in writing is to tell you how much I appreciate your interest and knowledge. Angels are my passion but I know almost nothing about demons. Do you think it's true that demons chose to turn away at the moment they separated from the singularity of The Source, and that fallen angels are in a separate phylum because they lost touch with The Light later on? That question has been nagging me lately and it's rare to happen upon a demonologist. I hope you don't mind my sudden attempt at engaging your intellect. I have great respect for anyone with our divine connection to insight. I'm sure you know what I mean. Be well.

Demons are a totally different family from the fallen angels in that the demonic races descended from Lilith; who was originally human. Demons aren't all evil any more than all angels are good, but it's a bit harder for them to choose light and/or order since they've never known it, whereas more fallen angels will seek repentance because they might miss what they once had as celestial beings.

nice.....this has to b the only thing ive read so far that actualy drew me in and i cant help but belive you.

maybe you could help me w/ a prediciment im in..my bro can use a thing called "energy" and he said that he has a fallen angel in him but its name is long forgotten

razielapprentice In reply to blaze-1 [2008-11-22 22:09:52 +0000 UTC]

I don't know why you mean by him "using energy" - can you explain that a bit more? I can manipulate and feed on the energy in other people. But he may be talking about something completely different.

And I and many of my friends have fallen angels in us; that's not as unusual as you'd think. It's frustrating to not be able to remember your name, but that may come to him in time. Seeking our identity is a hard road because when you're a fallen angel reborn into a human body, Gabriel - well, you may have read this part in the file now that I think of it - but Gabriel seals away our memories and most of our power. In other words, we end up with massive amnesia. What does your brother know about his angel spirit?

its like this i we were blessed wen we were little and we could manipulate fire and other elements depending on our emotions.....he calls his fallen angel the "nameless angel"......and i dont kno y but he also told me about the leviathan but said theres 2 different kinds,1 is a giant demon, another is a flying storm dragon (i caught 1 and sealed it in a saphire necklace)

razielapprentice In reply to blaze-1 [2008-11-23 00:37:55 +0000 UTC]

I don't know about the storm dragon, but the giant demon's actually a fallen angel. A female and one of Lucifer's closest advisors, Leviathan takes the animal form of a sea dragon and is documented in Revelations and Enoch. And manipulating elements is a nice ability to have; bonus. As for your brother's angel, I usually advise summoning as a means of finding out one's identity. If you can come across a spirit who knew them and can communicate with them, that's a good way of learning info about one's past.
