Description
A chart/graphic for my portfolio cause I really needed an example of that. The purpose is to tell what parts of an hunted animal is used or consumed, but also which kind of meat comes from which part of the body(in general.)

Are parts of the neck never eaten? Seems like the neck would contain a lot of meat, considering it must be very muscular in male deer for obvious reasons.

They could, but sometimes they cut the head off there to send it off to the taxidermist.
From most videos ive seen they usually only keep a small bit of the neck.

I've never had the opportunity to taste deer meat... The only hunter left in my family was my grandfather and he was too old to hunt anymore. One of his friends gave him some moose meat, but he forgot about it and it went bad in the freezer
Would love to have a deer pelt, though.

Sadly, humanity will not be able to use hunting as a Means of food source yet with our current numbers :I However the statestics says that in year 2090 the human number will top at 9-10 billion and then decrease so yeah 2500-2900 sounds like a reasonable time for the supermarkets to Invest in hunting.... I love the wall hangers xD How would one prevent it from rotting? o.O

Deer are tasty, tasty animals.
(I come from a community with a lot of hunters, including my dad, so I grew up with deer jerky, deer brats, etc.)

i like this specifically because so many ppl throw a fit about hunting deer, but when you look at something like this it shows just HOW MUCH you can use of the deer so that its not a bad thing
<3 great job with it <3

Montana here. Deer meat can swing both ways depending on when you got the deer. It can either be a very tender delicious meat, or a rough gamey meat. Shooting a male deer in rut, typically the only time when you can shoot one, usually results in gamey meat. The best ways I think to enjoy deer meat is jerky and sausage because both nullify the possible chance of gameyness it could have

Has too many hormones in it, making it taste strange and even rotting in some cases. Just an odd taste. Not a very enjoyable one either, though my dad can eat it with no problem. Some people mind it, others don't.

Been a while since I had venison, but if I remember correctly it's kindof like lamb, only with a richer flavour.

Gosh, it's been years since I ate lamb, but I do remember almost tearing my brother apart for getting the last piece, haha.
I really shouldn't be reading these comments with empty belly, but you made me really curious in trying out venison. :c

It's very good for sure! I eat it all the time around hunting season, since my dad doesn't really hunt anymore, we have a friend who'll always shoot us a buck and we have it processed. But it tastes like a game-y beef. In fact I've always preferred deer to beef, it's just a lot better in my opinion.

Personally I usually have it from cow; never had it from deer ( IDK if the laws in California allow fresh deer meat transportation/hunting or no).

Really? I live on the hills of Angeles Crest, and the deer are always a problem for people living slightly above me. Eating roses and plants and trampling stuff.
I wouldn't be surprised if they're part of the reason why, some time ago, bobcats and possibly mountain lions where going down into the neighborhoods.

No, I haven't. The craziest things I've seen in my part are black bears in backyards and running over a mountain lion or lynx by accident.
(Found the fur myself on the license plate.)

I know, right? He was a black bear snooping around Angeles Crest. He broke into a house and stole uncooked meatballs, hence his name.
They caught him now and he's living the good life in a preserve. A bit like Reggie the Gator.

I had a friend who would go hunting a lot. I live closer to the country so its pretty common. I sometimes get them to save me some of the meat they get XP Very tasty!
On the side, this is a good illustration. The only thing I was a bit confused with was which meat belongs to which part of the deer because the lines are the same color as the deer outline. Just strained my eyes a bit, but maybe that's just me. XD

I totally agree with you on the hunting thing. How do people think it's morally better to kill a cow who's learned to trust you all it's life, versus killing a deer who knows to be afraid of you?

I don't think so as bacon is mostly fat bits of the flank of a pig. Deer has barely any fat. The flanks are more suitable for soups or sauce. I heard about deer jerky ( smoked meat strips)

Really wonderful job with this! I wish I had the heart to hunt, 'cause venison is AMAZING (plus getting a pelt and bones! ^_^ ), and quite frankly the deer around here live better than some cows (or other animals) on factory farms do. But man, I can't even squish spiders XD Otherwise I'd so use this as one of probably various references. It's nice seeing a breakdown that includes all of the bits.

I never killed an animal myself for food eather. So i wonder if i have the heart to do it. I did try to catch a pike-perch (fishing) as a first try but i did not have any luck at all .. i caught some minnows that i wanted to use as bait but i felt bad about it... so i released them. xD
