Description
Warning: BIG file!On #5 for Step 3, I misspelled "friend". Sorry!
For *efa91 .
My first tutorial...I hope it's thorough enough. :3 Feel free to ask me questions! Note that this is how I make my stamps, so again, you can change it to fit your needs.
Anyway...
The template link is: [link]
If you want other templates, here are some more that you can use:
[link] (<---for this one, you can just erase the text to make it fully blank)
[link]
When it says to use a background image width/height close to the stamp's width/height, it means that you should use a picture that has a width larger than the height. If you are making a stamp with a different background image, be sure to crop or resize whatever image it is to match up with the stamp's size before making the stamp. It doesn't have to be exact, but similar enough.
When you're clicking "Blending Options", make sure it's only for whichever layer you want those features to be in.
In the "Blending Options" window, not only can you check mark whichever feature, but you can also click on the name of that feature and change some other stuff for that feature (like the feature "Drop Shadow" or "Stroke"), like it's opacity or color, and so on.
Sorry about the ridiculously horrible handwriting...I used a mouse to do it.

You can use GIMP. And you can download it for FREE.

What size should I make the background image so it won't look as you said wacky? Or at least, where should I start?

You should try to make it the around the same as the stamp's size, which is 99 x 56. Then you can use the little dots at the edges of the image to fit it to the stamp. You can also test around different sizes just by trial and error in Photoshop.

A very complete and nice tutorial ^^. Personally, I use Photophiltre Studio, so I can't use it, but if one day I use Photoshop, I'll think of it :3

Thank you!! This seems really, really helpful. Is there a way that I can download Adobe Photoshop CS3 for free? Also, some of the templates have this line that goes through the middle of the stamp. Do you know how I would go about getting rid of that?
Endless thanks. Seriously!!
I'll be sure to give you more feedback once I use this. ^^

Sorry for the late reply O:
Anyway! Thanks!
Yes, there is a way. But first, do you have a Windows or a Mac?
In Gimp, just click on the eraser icon--or better yet, if the background of the stamp is white, use a white-colored brush to go over it.
And if it's the first or third link, then you can just delete that layer with the text like I did in Step 1) #2.

It's alright.
You're welcome.
I own a Mac.
Thank you!! The next time I attempt to make a stamp I will try that.
